I was debating between these and the Bose QC45s. After scouring the internet reading reviews, I decided on these because of the ANC, the looks, and the touch capabilities. I have not been disappointed. I love the design, the feel, and all the bells and whistles. The app on the phone also offers way more control than the Bose app. You will not regret buying these over the Bose until Bose releases their next model.

My use case mainly being to focus on my schoolwork with my SO watches TV next to me. Where I cannot hear the TV unless an action scene is occuring.

If you catch them on a sale then they are super worth it, but honestly they are worth it at normal price too.

Sony ruined it

Did not realize that they do this. I have Bose noise cancelling headphones and they do not do that. Only gripe because they are actually good.

What you're experiencing is a feature called Speak-to-Chat. It’s designed to automatically pause your music and let in ambient sound as soon as you start speaking, so you can have a quick conversation without taking your headphones off. We understand it can be unexpected if you prefer to sing along or talk while listening!
The good news is that you can easily turn this off. You can either:
Use the App: Disable "Speak-to-Chat" in the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
Use a Gesture: Place two fingers on the right ear cup touch sensor and hold until you hear "Speak-to-chat deactivated."

Perfect for work from home

I initially purchased the Bose QCii and was very disappointed by the sound quality. So I returned those for these and to me, the difference is worth the money. Got them for $278. Sound is great, although you do have to adjust the eq settings in the Sony app to make them sound better. Also work great for zoom calls. I’ve seen some complaints that the mic isn’t the best but I haven’t received any complaints yet.
