The sound quality is superb and the touch pad controls work well as long as you are slower and deliberate with your movements. The audio can pause whenever you take the headset off, this feature works well enough. In the beginning my music would continue playing once i removed them but i haven't had many issues with it in the past few weeks.

Hook into a lossless source first as a true test. Light, easy weight, decent build quality. I love the ability to connect to two bluetooth sources and it works well even between my PC and iPhone 11 pro. The closest comp may be the Airpod Max and at twice the price, get these and a pair of Airpod Pros or better give the 250 bucks to your local animal shelter. Apple is trying to go elite brand and it’s a huge turnoff in this pandemic economy. Go with M4s.

Coming from Sony - WH-XB900N to these has been worth it. The app and features of this made the upgrade worthwhile. The battery life is almost all day trust me from someone who uses his headset throughout the day. Looking forward to this year's upgrade to the Sony WF-1000XM3 for a better travel/ commute option. Buy the WH-1000XM4 you will not regret it.

The noise cancelling was fantastic, and perfect for repetitive droning noises, likes fans or ac. The sound quality was also great. Whether you are using the ldap protocol on an android phone, or simple aac on an iphone. I found these headphones to be one of the best sounding ones I have had the pleasure of experiencing. It's also light weight, rest easily on your head, and feels premium. But there's a reason I'm giving a one star review to them after a 18 months of ownership. These headphones developed an issue with the noise cancelling feature. The issue being that it would RANDOMLY AND LOUDLY SCREECH FOR A SOLID 30 SECONDS AT MAX VOLUME. There is no way to predict when this happens. You'll just be sitting there, minding your own business, perhaps listening to some Jazz or Lo-fi hip hop when suddenly a piercing screech at max volume comes out of both ears of your headphones. The only solution I have found was to just disable to the noise cancelling, but that's half the reason you are spending three hundred dollars on a pair of headphones. This is an unacceptable quality failure, and apparently the headphones are already out of Sony's warranty. So according to them, I got my values worth. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing any Sony headphones in the future, and advice anyone reading this to seriously consider this review. I personally, I bought a pair of SennHeiser momentum 3's to replace these, but there are a lot of other competing anc headphones to choose from. Headphones like the Bose 700's, Bose QuietComfort 35, or Bowers & Wilkins px7. Those are just a few I think I would have been more happy purchasing than these headphones.

Make sure to update the firmware of the headphones by performing a software update (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. Doing so may resolve the issue.

You may hear noise (such as a creak, click, or static) through the WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones when traveling through tunnels, or other environments which air pressure changes easily, even if the noise canceling function is on. When the Noise Canceling function is set to ON, you may also hear a White noise (a small electrical noise with continuous static sound). If this occurs, temporarily turn off the Noise Canceling function. Also, please remove any obstacles between the antenna of the connecting Bluetooth device and the built-in antenna of the headset and keep the headset away from a microwave oven, wireless LAN device, etc.

I've been buying this line since XM2 and the improvements in terms of noise canceling have been good, the sound profile has not seen any huge change over the years. The bass is still punchy to the point of overbearing and the mids and treble are not as pronounced as its competitors. It's still the best of its class out there but the next model better have a refresh in design and sound profile or there's no point in upgrading these cans for the next couple of years.

Perfect headphones for movies/gaming/traveling

Really great sound quality, excellent noise cancelling, and the over-ear build helps to keep my ears warm in the cold, which is a nice bonus. It's on the higher end of noise cancelling headphones, both in price and quality, but it's definitely worth it. Would recommend over other products.

Best noise canceling headphones I’ve used

The sound quality is excellent and the noise canceling makes it so that I hear almost nothing. The speak to chat is a good improvement over the quick attention but the time it takes to go back to my music is a bit too long and it’s a bit sensitive since it activate it I’m laughing or humming to a song.

I would compare the quality of the sound to some of the best studio equipment out there. The noise cancellation is perfect. I’m not sure what else they could do to these to make them anymore perfect.
