Great first impression and excited to use these

I've been using them for about 2 hours now, and upon first impression, they are phenomenal. The setup is extremely easy - an app that you download through a QR code in the physical manual guides you through the process which is completed in about 5 minutes. I learned a lot of features right off the bat and I'm sure I'll learn more as I use the headphones more. The foam on the ears and the top of the set is extremely comfortable and I don't have any ear discomfort yet. My ears are average sized, so please take that into consideration. The look and feel of the headphones and the case is high quality and feels durable. The footprint isn't too big and they are lightweight which will be great for bringing them along on long trips or in a bag for the day. The sound is fantastic. It truly surrounds you. I know there are options for EQ which i till get into at another time, but out of the box the sound is great. Looking forward to my time with these, thanks Sony!

Those were already great, but one of my pet peeves was that I always had to carry an extra USB-B cable. I have an Android phone so having everything charge with a USB-C is much easier to deal with. The headphones themselves sound great and having them on with nose cancelling seems like you're in a completely different place. I wear them at the gym and you can't hear any of the clanking at all while using them. These headphones can get loud, if you want them to, and I usually have them at around 60-70% volume. Gestures: They work well once you get used to it, but with anything touch based, it can and does get better over time with software updates. Battery life: It's advertised as 30 hours so shouldn't have any issues with 2 weeks of use. Due to USB C, charging is really fast and you can get 2 hours of use with just a quick 10 min. charge. So if you have a car charger and your headphones are dead on the way to the gym, you can charge them enough for a full session.

The noise canceling is so amazing you can’t hear a single thing once you have them on. They’re comfortable and light weight. Plus the battery last a very long time. I contemplated getting the AirPods Max but this has just as good sound if not better, good battery life, and much lighter while wearing. Only thing I wish it had was easier connection and device switching that you get with Apple headphones.

GREAT noise cancellation in loud environments

I started off with the regular AirPods, then got the AirPods Pro. The AirPods Pro have a good noise cancelling for everyday use but these Sony’s are impressive! The noise cancellation is the best I have ever used. I have an auto detailing business and always use them when I am working. They do a really good job at noise cancellation, my gas pressure washer, vacuum etc are very loud. These headphones do wonders when it comes canceling all that noise. If these can handle my loud working environment I’m sure it they can handle whatever type of environment you are in. I have seen the decibels get up to 100 according to my Apple Watch and these headphones make the noise very tolerable. I can still hear my machines working but at maybe 20% of the actual noise they make. The battery life is great! I got these on sale for 279. I have seen that sale happen often. They are worth the price! The Sony app is also easy to use and you can have these headphones paired with 2 devices. The controls on the side of headphones are easy to use and took me a bit to get used to since its a swipe motion instead of a clicks (airpods).

They come with a case and have excellent battery life. You can connect 2 devices to them simultaneously. Very light weight and comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Noise cancelling is some of the best and the app offers tons of customization options.

If only it could cancel airplane engine noise!

It's an excellent set for around the house, making phone calls it's comfortable as can be but when it's tested against the Bose 700 on a real airplane it's not the device you're going to want for air travel! But I actually prefer it around the house because it's so darn comfortable! I walked into return it but I realized I really like it for home phone calls and just walking around the house using it with the phone, tv, computer. Sound quality is excellent I can see why there's so much hype about it. Noise cancellation for walk around the block and to function around the house is perfect! And it's actually really great in traffic. Where it's not great is on an airplane. That's it I'm going to give it five stars with the caveat that noise cancellation on an airplane could be much much better! It's actually superb for phone conversations picks up right away and everyone says it's super clear and the reception is super clear. So, yes, five stars because if you're not flying it's definitely five stars.

40mm drivers still here, unlike on the XM5s (30mm)

These XM4s are 40mm and if you prefer punchier and fuller bass I'd stick to the XM4s. Battery life, comfort and sound are amazing here. I don't see much reason to "upgrade" to the new XM5s? ANC performance is stellar. You can find third party ear cups too. That's a major contributing factor for me when buying premium headphones. If I can easily replace the ear cups. XM5s are not worth the upgrade. These XM4s are still an amazing value, especially when they go on sale.
