I Love These Headphones!

But sometimes the headphones would kick me out of silent mode for ambience sound for the little sounds even when I set the settings not to.

These fit so well, i was shocked at how comfortable they could be. The noise cancelling made my jaw drop. Id never been able to get headphones to fit well enough to experience it until i tried these.

The bass is deep and rich without being too overpowering, the mids are clean, and the highs are crisp. Whether I’m listening to pop, EDM, or acoustic tracks, everything sounds balanced and immersive. You can really hear the details, especially when using LDAC with high-res audio. The noise cancellation also helps enhance the sound experience by cutting out distractions. Definitely one of the best-sounding wireless headphones I’ve ever used.

Best headphones I’ve ever had

These are the most comfortable and best sounding headphones I have tried. The touch controls are really interesting, the only major complaint is that some features can be counterintuitive.

I’m sad Best Buy no longer sells it directly but they are affordable and sound great. Mine broke at the hinge. I now have the xm6s which are amazing but I wish they had bass like the xm4s and maybe the same comfort.

Lost my headphones (left on a plane after an early flight) and decided to get these. Used to be a fan of Sony from back in the day when they were heavy into music, but felt they lacked the edge of technology. Well I am pleasantly surprised that these are excellent in noise cancelling and crisp music. Bose are really good, these are GREAT, they figured it out and are very comfortable. I can wear them for hours at a time. Uses USB-C which is nice because most of my devices connect with the same. The app does what it needs to, and one feature you may want to consider toggling is the pause every time you speak. I did not realize how much I spoke to myself out loud only to realize that I had pause the music. The touch controls on the side are also easy to use and intuitive. Would highly recommend

Great sound; heavy on the bass but you can eq that out. Noise cancelling doesn't remove all higher frequencies but makes them much quieter, while low frequencies are pretty much gone.

However, if you are able to splurge these are greaaat headphones. While they are not 100% noise cancelling like the AirPods are, they do a pretty good job and are much more comfortable. The sound is entirely better and they do a great job of managing decibels and sound quality. I used to get headaches after wearing earbuds for a while and this has completely resolved it:)

I don’t hand out five stars easily but these headphones never cease to amaze me. They have more features than you could ever imagine. If you get stuck in a setting just Google how to get out of it by using the model number of the headphones. It has more settings than are listed in the instructions. These really keep the noise out and would be great on an airplane even in the noisiest seat. They charge in the blink of an eye and the charge lasts me for a week of viewing in the evenings at least. I haven’t had to charge them yet. I just wish the charging cord was longer than 3 inches. They really exceeded my expectations.

A downgrade, IMO.

I've had the previous XM3 model for over six years and the only reason I had to finally move on from it was due to extreme wear and tear. So I thought I'd upgrade this time. The XM4 is, for me, a downgrade. Everything I cared about is worse. The distance from my computer before the sounds gets choppy and cuts out has lessened. The headset is finicky with which device it wants to connect to. Sometimes I'll have to actually disconnect one device so that another can join instead. But then other times, it's perfectly fine? There was also this awful feature where it would attempt to auto detect my surrounds and turn on and off noise cancelling at will. This is on by default. I will admit that the auto shutdown after a few minutes of detecting it's no longer on my head is nice. Just wish I could adjust how longe before it does that. Wish it were 10 mins. I honestly wish I just tried to get the same model instead of "upgrading".

Regarding the issues you mentioned, here are a few quick things you can try to make the headset behave a bit better:
-In the Sony | Sound Connect app, go to the Sound tab and switch the Bluetooth Connection Quality to "Priority on Stable Connection." This should help with the choppiness and range.
-In the app, you can disable the "Adaptive Sound Control" feature which changes your settings based on your location or movement.
-You can actually adjust or disable the auto-off sensor in the "System" tab of the app to give you more control over when they shut down.
