Old Sonys were better

Controls (sliding buttons) are hard to find while wearing. You have to remove from ears to hear someone talking because you cannot locate a pause or mute button. The noise cancelling is good, the sound if just OK. My old Sony earphones were better, but age took over quality. Next time, l will use immediately after purchase & return if like these.

I almost exclusively use them for traveling especially planes. It keeps the lod plane noise out. I don't like flying without them. I'm also very thankful for the cord, as bluetooth and me are not always friendly.

However, these were tried on in the store and my niece and I both thought they were better than the newer Sony model and Bose. We both have Bose headsets and these Sony are equal to at least the Bose.

These improve in a couple ways from the XM3's. Multi pairing, cleaner bass, improved call quality. There also a new pause when you to to talk feature that I really enjoy, but you have to learn not to sign along with the music lol.

Sony ruined it

Did not realize that they do this. I have Bose noise cancelling headphones and they do not do that. Only gripe because they are actually good.

What you're experiencing is a feature called Speak-to-Chat. It’s designed to automatically pause your music and let in ambient sound as soon as you start speaking, so you can have a quick conversation without taking your headphones off. We understand it can be unexpected if you prefer to sing along or talk while listening!
The good news is that you can easily turn this off. You can either:
Use the App: Disable "Speak-to-Chat" in the Sony | Headphones Connect app.
Use a Gesture: Place two fingers on the right ear cup touch sensor and hold until you hear "Speak-to-chat deactivated."

Great noise cancelling, but can't use lying down

It has great sound quality and noise blocking, it really helps me block out my severe tinnitus (ringing in your ears) The only issue I have with this product is that for some reason it randomly turns off when using it while lying down and continues to do so after you keep turning it back on. Not sure if I have a faulty device or that just something that happens... But this headphone is worth it for me because of how great the noise canceling is!

I will admit the XM4 were not my first choice and solely due to price. I was trying to stay at around the $200 mark but man I am glad I ended up with these! They sound AMAZING! The only thing I would change is improve the ambient sound quality but other than that everything else exceeds my expectations!
