Lightweight and comfortable

I can wear this for hours comfortably unlike my apple headphones. The only downside is the touch feature to change songs and volume. I keep accidentally touching the side and it pauses the music. I prefer buttons.

Thanks for sharing your review and experience with the WH1000XM4. We're glad that you like the sound quality and noise canceling function of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are experiencing connectivity issues.
For optimum performance, make sure to update the software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app). You may also find these steps helpful:
-Set the headset to “Priority on stable connection” mode using the Sony Headphones Connect app.
-Remove any obstacles between the antenna of the connecting Bluetooth device and the built-in antenna of the headset.
-Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:
>When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device. In this case, put the Bluetooth device in the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
>When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device.
>In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.
>Where there are other wireless communication audio devices or other people nearby, such as in train station premises or on a crowded train.

Resetting and initializing the headset may also help resolve those issues:
Resetting the headset
-Press both the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. The device registration (pairing) information is not deleted.
If the headset does not operate correctly even after resetting, initialize the headset to restore factory settings.
Initializing the headset
-Turn off the headset while the USB Type-C cable is disconnected and then press and hold the (power) button and the CUSTOM button simultaneously for 7 seconds or more. The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times, and the headset is initialized. This operation resets volume settings, etc. to the factory settings, and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.

The durability of the materials and the build of it really does, make you feel like these are top of the line headphones, and not like those other ones where they use cheap materials. The comfort on this thing is immaculate, and I have a big head, so that says a lot. 10/10

Much better than surface 2 and Bose

I have tried the big 3 consumer NC headphones and these beat the other two. I love Sony sound, but the new EQ has something for everyone. You can dial in a Bose-esque sound profile. I wear for 4-6 hours per day constantly streaming and I get 4 days use from these (NC on). Get them on sale, these are great.

They are comfortable and easy to used. Their noise cancelling works well. I need to live with them to make further evaluation. Best Buy matched the Amazon Prime Day price with a faster delivery date. Use them at the gym no problem. Use them while mowing no problem. Used at the office for some quiet time excellent. Used while gaming, the two connected devices comes in clutch for this.

Worth the upgrade for me

I got the XM3’s last year and they were easily the best headphones I’ve ever had until I got my XM4’s the other day. For me it was worth the upgrade just to be able to connect to multiple devices at once. The noise cancelling seems slightly better, but it was already very impressive. I notice slightly more clarity in sound with the new ones as well. The sensor that pauses the music when you remove the headphones isn’t the best because I like to hang them around my neck instead of removing them completely so the music will resume on its own. I’ve gotten so used to pausing as I’m taking them off that it’s not really an issue to me. Placing your hand over the ear cup to activate ambient mode seems to work much faster compared to the XM3’s which was a big improvement for me. I haven’t noticed much of a difference in comfort. I got the silver XM3’s and XM4’s, and the new ones are closer to actual silver/gray with each section matching while the XM3’s have a bit of gold in the color and the color isn’t consistent. I see a lot of people recommending the XM3’s since they’re cheaper now but in my experience that will just leave you wanting more.

And when you take the headset off it pauses the music. If only the sound was louder . Me personally I want to sound like I have in AirPods .
