There’s a lot of extra features and controls that I’m not using, which probably went into the the high price of the headphones, oh well.

After spending hours on video calls, we needed a product that didn't make our ears hurt. Perfect choice. A little tricky to set up for video calls at first, but we figured it out.

They are very comfortable. The app gives you the ability to adjust sound in terms of presets like Club etc or customize your equalizer for more bass etc. No other headphones compare.

Great Headphones, Not So Great for Video Editing

Great for listening but not great for editing because the bass is amplified so you won't get a natural sound. Using them on bluetooth with my wireless mouse and keyboard created lag between some function of my laptop, like adjusting my computer volume.

I got them because of the active noise cancelling, which rivals all of the current Bo$e noise cancelling and surpasses all the rest. What has really increased my experience is all the "hidden" features that are explained inside the box. Laying your palm on the side of the headphones pauses the ANC, intuitive swiping up/down on the outside earpiece for volume and forward and back for skipping, the double tap to pause, all very easy/user friendly interface that makes them a pleasure to use.

The noise cancellation is amazing. Completely cut off aircraft noise making my trip home much more pleasant. I wear them while cutting grass. Riding mower sounds like a sewing machine. Only drawback for me is the “tap” system which interferes with the tap system on my hearing aids. I have to tap my ears twice to change hearing aid programs. Unfortunately the double tap on headphones is needed to turn off and on the NC.

While the audio performance is definitely impressive, I’ve been experiencing consistent ear pain whenever I use the headphones. After wearing them for even a short period, my ears start to feel uncomfortable, and the pressure becomes hard to ignore. I tried adjusting the fit several times, but the discomfort remains, making it difficult to enjoy the music or wear the headphones for longer sessions. Unfortunately, despite their excellent technical features, the lack of comfort has been a major drawback for me. Overall, the Sony WH-1000XM4 may work well for many users, but if you’re sensitive to ear pressure or tight-fitting ear cups, you might face similar discomfort. I’m disappointed because I really wanted to like these headphones, but the ear pain makes it hard to recommend them.
