Great WFH purchase

Sound quality is excellent. The only two issues I have are: 1. When on a web call (computer), if my phone rings and I'm connected, the headphones will drop computer audio and automatically switch over to phone audio. Had this happen one too many times. So, I eventually gave up on multi-device connection, which was a purchase point unfortunately. 2. Microphone isn't great. Coworkers have told me I sound like an air traffic controller. I eventually just bought a USB mic for my laptop. Audio is still passable if needed.

Low background noise and good sound

Requires giving up personal information like so many other products that should not need it. Volume adjustment is not the greatest system.

Great Heaphones

I really don't have any major complaints about them. I would just say that they are sensitive to touch, so if you are using them while moving around a lot, turn off the touch controls so that the music won't randomly pause.

Great and Not so Much

The sound quality is great, deep base with very clear vocals, and the ability to customize the equalizer to your liking is fantastic. What's not fantastic is the Tactile sensors, the microphone, and pressure build up from the noise cancelling. The sensors do not respond very well, often skipping what I was listening to and causing me to have to take my phone out and go back; defeats the purpose of the feature. The internal sensor works great but with the wonky touch sensors it ends up playing the sound or skipping the song/episode. The Microphone is horrible. It picks up all of the background noise and not your voice. The voice through feature seamed cool at the beginning but it became very annoying. Anything triggers it, a random sounds, other voices, loud noises, coughing, etc. It makes the experience unenjoyable. Lastly, the pressure. My god, it can be so intense sometimes. You feel it pushing into your head. The pressure can cause some headaches and sometimes a little disorientation, nausea, dizziness/motion sickness. Makes relaxing a bit difficult. I hope this helps you when deciding

While we're happy that you like the great sound and you're utilizing the built-in equalizer on the Sony Headphones Connect app, we're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the touch sensor control panel does not respond correctly. Make sure to update the software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance.
When you wear the headset over a cap, cloth, a scarf, hair, etc., wearing detection may not work properly, and the touch sensor control panel may not be available for operation. Wear the headset so that your ears are inside the earpads. We also recommend to clear the touch sensor so that you can tap the touch sensor directly. The WH-1000XM4 features Precise Voice Pickup technology, which will reduce background noise and delivers clearer voice quality to the other person on the phone. Depending on the surrounding environment, wind noise may increase when the Ambient Sound Mode is turned on. In that case, cancel the voice focus with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. If the wind noise is still significant, turn off the Ambient Sound Mode. For call quality, re-establish the connection between the headphones and your source device. Select HFP or HSP for the profile. You can also check the settings of the app that you are using for mic sensitivity if available.
Your feedback about the atmospheric pressure when active noise canceling is turn on is greatly appreciated. We are sorry, but the WH-1000XM4 doesn't offer a manual atmospheric pressure adjustment. However, it features an NC Optimizer - Optimizing the noise canceling function to suit the wearer. For details, please refer to the following Help Guide link:

Sound is Amazing but Phone calls not so

After listening to music every day on them since I purchased, I can say the sound is amazing, I would say the best sounding headphones I have. The noise-cancelling feature is much better then my old pair. But talking on the phone is not so good especially for the other person. When on the phone my voice fades in and out to where the other person I’m talking to can’t hear me but they are crystal clear to me. I have the latest version of firmware 2.5.0 and it’s disappointing that a $349 pair of headphones can’t conduct a phone call. If phone calls are important to you I would advice not to get these but if sound quality while listening to music is then these are great.

Bass heavy, but great

Sound is definitely bass heavy (not neutral). Poor openness (sound coming from in head ) but that is an issue with all closed back designs. Hard to imagine doing better. You can Eq the boom out

A great pair of noise cancelling headphones

I work on a loud van that is roughly 80dB. I was noticing increased ringing in my ears so I went all out to get these. I'm glad I did. They really help. Most road noise fades away. If you want to hear something for a second, put your right hand on the earpiece and it goes to transparent mode so that you can hear normally. The other thing I love is the bluetooth connectivity. My wife has to ask if I'm on the van because it does a great job cancelling noise when talking to others. I 100% recommend these to anyone that wants a high quality, feature full noise cancelling headphones

All around good headphones

Sound, battery life and features are all top notch. Wish the weight was a little better distributed on the top of head but improvements on the ear over last year much appreciated. Wish was a little better integrated with iPhone and the app was a little smoother.

Mainly use these for watching movies with my iPad. ANC is great. Even without playing anything you sumerge yourself in total silence. Connection with 2 iOS devices is very seamless. I do also have AirPod pro which are better for certain occasions due to spacial audio. I have no test these Sony for video calls.
