Many thanks for the 5-star rating! We're glad to hear you like the superb sound and noise canceling features of your WH1000XM4 headphones. Bluetooth communications may be disabled, or noise or audio dropout may occur under the following conditions:
When there is a human body between the headset and the Bluetooth device
In this case, put the Bluetooth device in the same direction as the antenna of the headset to improve the Bluetooth communications.
When there is an obstacle, such as metal or a wall, between the headset and the Bluetooth device
In places with wireless LAN, where a microwave oven is used, electromagnetic waves are generated, etc.
Where there are other wireless communication audio devices or other people nearby, such as in train station premises or on a crowded train.

Comparing to my old Bose QC35, this headphone fares better in term of sound quality and features. I am still not use to using gestures to control the headphone. The phone automatically detects when I talk and stop the music. In a noisy environment, this features mistook someone else talking next to me, sometimes does not work well and stop my music when I am not even talking. Kind of annoying.

Your feedback about the Speak-to-Chat function is greatly appreciated. The Speak-to-Chat mode activates when it detects the speech of the person wearing the headset. In places with a lot of noise, the speech of the person wearing the headset may not be detected, and the Speak-to-Chat mode may not activate. If this is the case, speak longer and louder. In some cases, in extremely noisy environments such as a train station or airports, the Speak-to-Chat mode may not activate even when speaking longer and louder.
Note: By changing the sensitivity of the automatic audio detection in the Sony | Headphones Connect app, the Speak-to-Chat mode can be easier to activate. Unfortunately, this may also activate accidentally the Speak-to-Chat in response to the voices of other people, ambient environmental sounds, transportation announcements, etc.

The noise cancellation on these are amazing!! Perfect for traveling, walking the busy streets, or simply listening to in your own home. ||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Summary: Great audio quality, poor mic noise cancellation quality = AVERAGE Overall Rating I purchased these headset as I have moved to work from home and do not have an enclosed office to work from. I am just steps away from the kitchen and the living room and there are no walls/doors in between. I needed headsets that would eliminate the background noise picked up by the mic in calls. These headsets are not the solution for that. AUDIO: 5 Starts. Its probably the best audio output I've ever had on headsets. I come from wearing BOSEQuet comfort and these are better by A LOT! so if you need a headset that allows you to hear audio while eliminating the surrounding noises, I highly recommend this headsets. It has some other perks like ability to enable audio from environment automatically which works pretty well. MIC: 1 star. There is no active noise cancellation. I'm not sure if this was my mistake, could have been... but I read on some reviews that it worked as such... it definitely does not eliminate environment noise picked up by the mic in calls. In fact the feedback I got from people on calls is that it even enhances it... I used it with a DELL laptop, a MacBook Pro, an iPhone and an iPad, overall the results were the same (better feedback when in calls over the phone).

Decent app that allows for equalizer adjustments. Not as seamless with Bluetooth connections as Apple AirPods. Would have preferred dedicated buttons to the trackpad style gestures.

Beware - Not Worth the Investment

I only used them while working and made sure to keep them protected in their case while not in use. A few weeks ago, plastic at the right the ear cuff joint began snapping off and the piece has continued to disintegrate. It is now unwearable and functionally useless. I immediately contacted Sony and although the product is within warranty, they refuse to cover "physical damage". There was never an incident that would have caused this damage, so I'm very disappointed in these headphones and am now researching alternatives! I now know that there are many Reddit threads about this exact damage occurring. This was a terrible first experience with Sony customer service and I will be avoiding their products moving forward.

We're sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues when switching between two audio sources using the multipoint function. When using a multipoint connection, we recommend to download the Sony Sound Connect app on one of the devices and make sure it has the latest update. Check with the Sony Sound Connect app that the setting of [Connect to 2 devices simultaneously] is on. (Confirm that both devices are connected in the Device Currently Being Connected section of the app)
• Multipoint connection works with only two devices at a time.
- A third device can be connected through Bluetooth, however, the Bluetooth connection with the last device that played music will stay connected and the second device will be disconnected in order for the third device to establish the Bluetooth connection with the headphones.
• If you want to play music from the other device, stop playback on the device that is playing the music, and start playback by operating the other device.
Even if you start playback by operating the second device while playing music on the first device, the music from the first device will continue to be heard via the headset. In this state, if you stop playback on the first device, you can listen to music from the second device via the headset.
