I used to think that there was no way wireless headphones could ever sound as good as wired, but these Sonys have completely proven me wrong. They are just phenomenal. From comfort and style to sound quality and battery life, they excel in all areas for me. They really do. The only downside (if I have to call one out) is that they aren't that much of an upgrade to the XM3 that came out before it. Sooo, if you need to save some money, those are great too. But if you want the best, then look no further than the XM4s.

After three weeks, these headphones have exceeded my expectations. The biggest surprise has been that they stay comfortable on my head for around 4 hours. They also have great sound quality, impressive noise canceling, and solid features - like connecting to multiple devices at once. Connecting to a second device was a tad bit involved, but worth the one time effort. Battery life has been solid too. Once the pandemic is over, I’m looking forward to using these on flights and testing out the ambient mode.

These not only have incredible sound and noise cancellation, but they're extremely comfortable to wear. My only small issue with them is the touch gestures for going to the next song track, answering the phone, etc. aren't always consistent - I feel like I have to swipe the cup of the headphones multiple times before it actually does what I want it to do.

I recently bought these after using the second generation version from 2017 with no issues. I didn't need to upgrade them as they were still in good shape but I passed them on to my son and got these for myself. Though my original pair were fine the upgrades on these have really improved and built on the foundation of previous gens to keep Sony top of class in noise canceling, feel and build quality. That's not to mention their rich sound. They are perfect to use in the gym and I don't have to worry about charging them every day because they have such a long battery life. I'll be enjoying these for as long or longer than my last pair from 2017!

These are by far the best headphones I’ve owned. I am very sensitive to noise specially when studying, and these are perfect for canceling it. They are very comfortable, too. Battery lasts all day

The sound quality is excellent. It is quite comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. The battery life is also quite decent. I had no issues with it. I prefer these headphones to others I've owned, and the noise cancellation is fantastic! It muffles the noise everywhere you go. I wholeheartedly endorse this!

I have 2 other pair of headphones, the boss quiet comfort and bowers and Wilkins px9. I found that the these are a middle happy ground. Comfortably is better than the px9 (but still not better than the bose) but better more punchy sound compared to the Bose (px9 are more clear and neutral). All this wrapped in a slick black design. Definitely in the top tier among witless noise cancelling headphones.

These headphones are absolutely worth every penny. They have the best noise cancellation feature. Easy to use, comfortably 10/10 , very slick and feels great on your head. Very light as well! This is definitely on my top 3 of overall best headphones/earbuds ! Please get a pair you will not regret it !

Love these so much! > $250 or less is PERFECT deal. I like these more than the XH-1000XM5 because these for easier storage in backpacks. Let me say 2 things, these are NOT GYM FRIENDLY. I do see people wearing these at the gym but the leather does not feel like it is meant for sweat or being wet for extended periods of time. I am biased because personally I prefer how wireless earbuds feel but defintely feel more like the type of headphones you would wear at an office, library, bus, or even home if you have loud roommates/neighbors. noise canceling is phenomenal! I love wearing these when I vacuum because if i turn the music loud enough, i can barely hear the vacuum! Touch controls: I gotta say that I am not a fan of touch controls, i would prefer physical buttons like the Bose QC45 Why i prefer these over the Bose QC45: Placing your hands over the right ear-cup temporarily activates and boosts the microphones and lowers your music/audio that allows you to hear your outside environment. Theoretically you can just jam out to music but if someone starts talking to you, this feature is the best! My only pain with these headphones is that they are heavy and get SUPER HOT after an hour or two. I find that after extended periods of time with the noise canceling mode on, my ears start to turn red and sweat. I hate this alot but it seems to be my personal experience with ALL noise cancelling headphones i have tried. The QC 45s are easier to wear for extended periods of time if that is more important to you but there is always going to be something that can be improved upon in every product so pick your poison QC45: Extended comfort + Physical buttons vs XM4s: Ambient Sound pass through + superior features

Comfortable, sturdy and great sound quality. The swipe features are pretty cool also. they get a little hot though when you have them on for long periods so i used them through the hood of my sweater when i was on a flight last week. Even with that I would still recommend.

I've been a hardcore Sony MDR fan for years (many studio models over the past decade and a half or two), and found myself on an emergency run to Best Buy after a new kitten in my house decided to gnaw through my line. I got the BB, and they had some of these on display... I'd never used noice cancelling before, so I put 'em on my head and turned them on. Whoa. I almost felt like they were sucking onto my head (they weren't, but noise cancelling isn't the same as noise reduction... it's a head trip). They sound as good as any MDRs I've owned, if not better. No lag when dealing with audio/video production or meetings, they last all day and night, and they charge super quickly. There are two types of interface on the phones themselves... two physical buttons as well as a touch-enabled area. I can see the value of the features of the touch sensitive tools, but if you're an old studio bay head like me, you'll appreciate that there's a free Sony app that you can use to turn off all that stuff. One thing to keep in mind... if you wear phones every day for hours a day, you might want to consider getting a darker color. The elements of time tend to show up with a bit of unwanted contrast on these lighter colored phones. Lastly, these things do come with a pretty long cable, so if you ever need to wire up you can do that. Via the app I mentioned, you can connect these to two different devices at once.

I absolutely love everything about these Sony Xm4 headphones. I guess the silver lining in my bad experience with the defective Bose Quiet comfort 35 2's (Wish I had gotten an extended warranty on those.) Led me to discover these Sony's XM4's that are a superior product. After the material of the ear pads on my Bose just split open and fell apart, I'm still very paranoid about that happening and constantly looking at these for any signs of that happening. However, the material seems of very good quality and sturdy on the Sony XM4's And does not have the holes on the padding of the inside either that helps lead to the splitting of the weak material of the Bose in a ridiculously short (Unacceptable period of time for what they cost.) But this time I did get the extended warranty just in case but I feel like I won't be needing it. The XM4's are also better in Tech, as they have so many nice High tech features. And the sound quality is a bit better, with a bit richer bass. The noise cancelling is just as good as the Bose. Was very surprised at how with Netflix and Youtube, Just remove the headphones and what you are watching automatically pauses. The volume control was a little weird at first, but once getting used to is great. If you are looking for a great pair of wireless noise cancelling headphones No need to look any further than the Sony XM4. If I didn't have an expensive car repair right now I'd get a second pair so can always have one fully charged even though the battery life, is long...

These are expensive but well worth it. The sound quality is amazing. It's got some bass but not too much. Unlike other high end headphone (coughbeatscough), there's some actual high end to this, so sound like symbols aren't lost. The active noise cancelation works a treat too, blocking out most things. It's not complete because there isn't a seal around the ears, but that plus the light weight, makes these things really comfy to wear.

At first glance, these might seem like there are only a few new features and aren't very different from the XM3's, but that is completely wrong. These headphones have the obvious feature upgrades like 2 device pairings (which is absolutely worth it for anyone who does anything on one device like a tablet or computer and wants to have the ability to answer phone calls, etc on another device), but they have little incremental upgrades that make these feel so much more polished than the prior XM3 headphones. 1. Better speakers and a wider sound-stage while maintaining the punchy base. 2. More comfortable with the extra padding in the ear-cups and wider headband. Anyone who wears earrings or hats will especially value these upgrades or anyone with larger ears. 3. Softer transition noises (pause, play, voice prompts, etc.)! The XM3 had much harsher and more aggressive tones that were annoying when listening later in the evening while wanting to wind down. These have a more polished sound overall. 4. WAY better sound-stage! 5. WAYYYYYYYY better and more reliable touch controls that are more responsive. The XM3 controls were clunky and early-gen to say the least. These feel how the XM3 controls should have been from the beginning. 6. The sensor in the ear-cup that pauses the sound when the headphones are removed is nice-to-have. It's not a critical upgrade b/c it takes no time at all to pause with the touch controls, but it does save the step of needing to pause before removing the headphones. The two cons I have towards these are that the app is a little clunky and the design is a bit old. They are very customize-able , but the app feels a little bit old. It works well, but feels older and less polished. Also, the tech features like talk to pause voice recognition is really not that useful (to me anyways) and it sometimes detects people around me when I'm out in public. I found myself jockey-ing the setting until I finally decided to just leave it off. The design is pretty traditional, and a bit boring compared to the competition (like the Bose 700's).

The sound quality and comfort is amazing for when I go to gym and do homework! Amazing battery life that I rarely ever have to worry about. Would recommend for good comfort headphones.

Incredible sound. Very incredible comfort. And best of all, their battery life is crazy. I use them work Tidal Master sound quality and it’s like I’m there with the artists sometimes. I wish the interface on the app were better, and that I could change the voice of the menu when using them, but whatever. You won’t regret the purchase. And best part is, I can connect them (with a 3.5” Jack) to my vinyl record player (I use an Audiotechnica player) and the sound is exactly what I was looking for.

I really love these headphones. The setup was quick and easy and the app offers some great features to enhance the listening experience. The noise cancelling is fantastic and the headphones fit very comfortably. The best part is the sound quality, crisp highs, deep bass and low end, and the midrange is clean and not overpowering. I have been listening for hours on my first charge, and the app shows I still have many more hours left. Great purchase!
