She loved them during the flight and has used them constantly since. These are the only active noise cancelling headphones that she can tolerate. They are incredibly comfortable and well worth the money.

Good noise canceling, terrible microphone

But because it's Bluetooth, whenever the microphone is active, the audio quality drops significantly. Would not suggest for any use case that needs a microphone

We certainly understand your frustration regarding the audio quality drop when the microphone is active, such as during a call or video conference. This is a common characteristic of Bluetooth technology: when the microphone is engaged, the headset often switches to a lower-bandwidth profile (like HFP or HSP) to prioritize the simultaneous transmission of both microphone audio and speaker audio, which results in a necessary reduction in overall fidelity.
While this is an inherent limitation of the current Bluetooth standard, we truly appreciate you highlighting it as a major point of consideration for users who rely heavily on the microphone.

Must have for parents & anyone else needing focus

I bought the midnight blue for my husband. He loves it. We are parents. Does it block out my child with a self-professed love of nonstop talking? Not if we're in the same room. But it does make everything much quieter when I need to focus. It helped me finish my degree. I listened to music on a flight recently. I did not hear the baby crying. I love the extra features, too. Simply touching fingers to the headset to navigate controls is awesome. Very comfortable to wear.

Overall sound quality is awesome, they drown out noise really well and I love that there’s an app where you can I have seen these go on sale from time to time, but I couldn’t wait, They last extremely long without me having to charge frequently which is a big plus.

They are very loud but with noise cancelling on other noises just don't exist anymore. Bass is pretty good. Not too heavy but a great level for listening to various types of music.

Best pair of nose cancelling headphones I’ve owned

Bought a pair for myself, two for my partner (lost one pair on a flight), and gifted for a friend on Christmas. Great but not the Bose-killer

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted these to outperform my Bose 700s, since I felt like the XM3s beat out the QC 35s in every way except some small annoying things (manual device switching, one device connection, etc.). I waited anxiously for months for their release and bought them right away. They’re good, but not great. They solved some of the small annoying things, but they still make you very reliant on a pretty non-friendly app interface to control your headphones. The touch controls are ok but it hammers your ear drum when you tap on the ear cups. The ANC and sound quality seemed to me to be almost identical to the XM3s, which I also owned. Very good in both cases, energetic sound, punchy bass, and almost no outside noise and very low hiss. These are really good headphones, but sadly, still not a Bose-killer for me. The 700s have the ANC edge, the phone call clarity edge, the fullest sound, and the easiest setup and app usability edge.

Yes, the price is up there but these are premium headphones. I've had them for a month now and I wear them about 5-6 hours a day. Super comfortable and don't give me a headache. I have a pair of wireless Beats and my only complaint is the comfort or lack of it from them just an hour or so into use. The sound stage and noise-canceling options are icing on the cake. The ability to "turn off" the sounds around me is amazing. If you are debating getting these headphones, they are currently on sale, get them! You will not be disappointed.

Awesome headphones

Not only do I use these bad boys to hit the gym so I can stay focused we let my daughter wear them as ear muffs for her first hockey game because she sensitive to loud noise an she had no problem. Perfect just perfect

A buddy of mine has the xm5’s and while i can say the headband is slightly lighter in the xm5’s its not so much of a difference that i genuinely care or wish i had gotten the 5’s. And as far as sound quality goes the xm5 has negligiblably better base like if you tweak around the EQ settings with the 4’s to get yiur desired base the sound is almost indistinguishable from the 5’s. If you have 400$ get the XM5’s and if you only got 200$ and the xm4’s are on sale def get the 4s you def wont regret it and i know i sure dont

You'll hear more bass in your audio when you have it under an EQ preset but can be customized in the Headphones app Sony has. The foldable design made me prefer it over the XM5. great for phone calls and how it can connect to two devices at the same time.

He was not wrong, they are comfortable to wear, play sounds precisely, and the noise cancelling is absolutely perfect! XM4 better than the XM5
