Good noise canceling, terrible microphone

But because it's Bluetooth, whenever the microphone is active, the audio quality drops significantly. Would not suggest for any use case that needs a microphone

We certainly understand your frustration regarding the audio quality drop when the microphone is active, such as during a call or video conference. This is a common characteristic of Bluetooth technology: when the microphone is engaged, the headset often switches to a lower-bandwidth profile (like HFP or HSP) to prioritize the simultaneous transmission of both microphone audio and speaker audio, which results in a necessary reduction in overall fidelity.
While this is an inherent limitation of the current Bluetooth standard, we truly appreciate you highlighting it as a major point of consideration for users who rely heavily on the microphone.

But that’s where you would be wrong they still hold up to be some of the best sounding headphones to date. Also, I know people don’t like to download apps for a lot of things, But the app that works with this pair of headphones Is worth it because of all the features that it holds you can have a custom EQ you can tweak different options in there. The pass-through is really nice as well. There’s a lot of great features.

Cons: Difficulty folding into case, occasional popping noise with noise cancel on plane, and cost. Overall: good headphones for travel, not as easy for making / taking calls but can work in a pinch

Awesome Quality and Sound!

They have amazing sound quality and almost top tier noise cancellation. The quality is up to par and the battery life is good enough for my usage. The only competition these have are the Bose. Would recommend.

Flash forward a few years and I am a believer! Very comfortable, even for hours on end, sound is great and can now switch between 2 devices. I highly recommend this and since they are (were) on a Black Friday deal @ $298 it is a great deal.

Phenomenal Headphones

The noise canceling on these are phenomenonal. I saw window seat on a Boeing-787 within view of the wing. Enabled Noise Canceling. Did not hear a decibal of that aircrafts engine at all. These are very comfortable as well, I havent experienced ear-fatique

Also, the passive noise reduction is not as good as previous model. I can hear more mid-frequencies coming through the headphones on this model. When I implement the auto-ambient control function I have to tap on the headphones to get the highest amount of noise cancelation from it. Despite what all the online frequency graphs are showing, this version is not as good at canceling higher mid frequencies than the previous version. Could have something to do with the hole for the sensor on the left ear. Don't really need that. I plugged it up, and disabled all the useless onheadphone-controls and keep it wired only. Wish they'd make a wired version, minimal controls, and Wired-only, with superior noise canceling for all frequencies especially ghetto-bass you hear from those stupid lowriders. or Jacked up funky mobiles with loud boom boxes.

We appreciate your in-depth review of the headphones. It's unfortunate that you are not having a complete experience because of the design and noise canceling function.
Make sure to adjust the headband of the headphones to achieve the best fit and comfort.
For optimum performance, make sure that the software version is updated. The noise canceling function is effective in low-frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. Check that the Adaptive Sound Control is turned off. Check the setting of the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. When the Adaptive Sound Control is turned on, the noise canceling function may become insufficient. Hope this helps.

He is a little hard of hearing and has to put the TV up loud. He is also bothered by background noise. I wasn't sure he would like them or use them. HE LOVES them! Hardly takes them off! They are comfortable, block the background noise and he can hear the TV with no trouble. He can easily turn off the noise cancelling to have a conversation. Set up was easy,

They are really comfortable too. I can wear them for 8 hours at a time without any problem. And the built in equalizer is awesome. I like my music with a lot of base and this allows you to customize that. And the headphones don't disappoint when it comes to sound quality. They give good, deep bass, and nice, clear vocals.

Great Sound even on PC

I bought it for work from home. I wear them for hours a day and they are very light and extremely comfortable! The sound is also pretty great for closed back headphones. I ended up buying the FiiO BTA30 as well to connect them to my PC and get true LDAC. I highly suggest picking up both if you want the best quality audio from your PC.

better than apple airpod max

Price wasnt really a factor from me. I just need something confortable that will cancel noise effectively. These are much more confortable for long coding sessions compared to the apple product. And half the price! They get a bit warm, but all closed back headphones do. Not much that can be done there. love the portability and carry case

New feature is ability to "auto hear" when mic detects someone talking to you, but I didn't care for that option personally. Must use touch controls to change volume, track, answer. Some people will not like that, but the device looks better without buttons.

Awesome for everything, except phone calls

I am happy with the sound quality, comfort, and the improvement from XM3 like dual device connection, improved app, etc. The only issue i have is that the mic for phone calls still makes my phone sound muted or robotic, not as much as XM3 but still quite noticeable difference compared to Bose 700 I'm keeping it and will dial in to my conference calls on my phone as PC's bluetooth driver sucks big time.
