I tried them out at the behest of an employee and was instantly converted. The sound quality and noise cancellation are incredible. I cannot recommend these enough. The only minor gripe is you need to tinker with the setting about auto-cancel of noise cancelling.

They have noise canceling settings if you can leave them off. I don't know why I thought I would prefer these over ear buds puff any kind, but they lasted a little over a year before I gifted them to my uncle who does prefer headphones lover ear buds. I will say that in a crowded flight, it did a marvelous job blocking out noise. It recommends a specific Sony app for configuration which I think was dumb. It should either work, or not, but I'm not a musician, I'm a listener.

The Best Noise Canceling Headphones I Own

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the WH-1000MX3 for about a year and a half and I can say that these WH-1000MX4 are not a huge leap from the previous model but still the best noise canceling headphone I own. It has a few new features from the previous model but if you can get the previous model on a good sale deal, then take it. These are great but wouldn't pass over the model 3 for them if I could get the model 3 at $250 or less because they are the same headphones with maybe a 10% difference. If both are the same price get the model 4 but if you can get a deal on the model 3, take it.

Amazing on long flights!

You turn on noise cancellation and you can still kind of hear the sound of the plane. But when you put on some music and turn up the volume, you can't even hear the plane. I'm not even over exaggerating. The quality is decent. Nice plastics are used. It is a little pricey but depending on who you are, totally worth it.

These things are just wonderful. the ability to be in your own world while listening to music or watching movies is unprecedented. the best time I had with this is when I took an air trip to Europe. the ability to not hear noise and just sleep was awesome... The noise canceling was what I expected outstanding. The quality of the sound was a pleasant surprise I knew the sounded good I listened to them in store but I had a chance to use them on a very long flight and I was amazed at the depth of the sound. I own a really good pair of B&W p7s and I really like their sound but the Sony set really were really quite spot on add the superior noise cancelling and this is my go to for using on flights.
