We're so glad that you are enjoying the overall performance of your WH-1000XM4 and it does have an effective noise canceling for commutes/air travel . The noise canceling function primarily works for noise in the low-frequency band (train, airplane, engine noise). Although noise is reduced, it is not canceled altogether. Sound is impressive and noise cancellation is reasonable. My guess is that the Apple headphones are more comfortable on the head after a while, but these aren't bad at all.
