Great and Not so Much

The sound quality is great, deep base with very clear vocals, and the ability to customize the equalizer to your liking is fantastic. What's not fantastic is the Tactile sensors, the microphone, and pressure build up from the noise cancelling. The sensors do not respond very well, often skipping what I was listening to and causing me to have to take my phone out and go back; defeats the purpose of the feature. The internal sensor works great but with the wonky touch sensors it ends up playing the sound or skipping the song/episode. The Microphone is horrible. It picks up all of the background noise and not your voice. The voice through feature seamed cool at the beginning but it became very annoying. Anything triggers it, a random sounds, other voices, loud noises, coughing, etc. It makes the experience unenjoyable. Lastly, the pressure. My god, it can be so intense sometimes. You feel it pushing into your head. The pressure can cause some headaches and sometimes a little disorientation, nausea, dizziness/motion sickness. Makes relaxing a bit difficult. While we're happy that you like the great sound and you're utilizing the built-in equalizer on the Sony Headphones Connect app, we're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the touch sensor control panel does not respond correctly. Make sure to update the software version of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance.
When you wear the headset over a cap, cloth, a scarf, hair, etc., wearing detection may not work properly, and the touch sensor control panel may not be available for operation. Wear the headset so that your ears are inside the earpads. We also recommend to clear the touch sensor so that you can tap the touch sensor directly. The WH-1000XM4 features Precise Voice Pickup technology, which will reduce background noise and delivers clearer voice quality to the other person on the phone. Depending on the surrounding environment, wind noise may increase when the Ambient Sound Mode is turned on. In that case, cancel the voice focus with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app. If the wind noise is still significant, turn off the Ambient Sound Mode. For call quality, re-establish the connection between the headphones and your source device. Select HFP or HSP for the profile. You can also check the settings of the app that you are using for mic sensitivity if available.
Your feedback about the atmospheric pressure when active noise canceling is turn on is greatly appreciated. We are sorry, but the WH-1000XM4 doesn't offer a manual atmospheric pressure adjustment. Blocks Loud Roommate Within 5 Feet

Had I not gotten these, I would have been left with my hair balding from the amount of stress built up from living with an inconsiderate roommate. The noise cancelling is immaculate and the padding is so comfortable.

While the audio performance is definitely impressive, I’ve been experiencing consistent ear pain whenever I use the headphones. After wearing them for even a short period, my ears start to feel uncomfortable, and the pressure becomes hard to ignore. I tried adjusting the fit several times, but the discomfort remains, making it difficult to enjoy the music or wear the headphones for longer sessions. Unfortunately, despite their excellent technical features, the lack of comfort has been a major drawback for me. Overall, the Sony WH-1000XM4 may work well for many users, but if you’re sensitive to ear pressure or tight-fitting ear cups, you might face similar discomfort. At the same time, the XM3s were the most perfect product I have ever bought. Therefore, this is also perfect. I don't like how Sony has treated the newer versions of the XM series, and this was the last of its kind. Huge fan of the XM3 sequel.

Amazing Headphones

I bought both these, and the Bose 700s and took the 700s back. These have a much fuller sound and higher quality app on your phone, while the Bose seemed a bit synthetic in its sound and lacked the bass I was looking for. I literally recommend these to all my friends. They’re heavy, have a high quality feel, and the sound is perfect. The noise cancelation is also amazing, although I’d give these a 9/10 in that category and the Bose a 10/10. Just being honest. Ps: these were also $30 cheaper at time of purchase (350 vs 380 for Bose)

I never like going out but with the headphone and music on, it’s awesome!
