Better in every way including BT connectivity

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the previous XM2 version years ago and used it often when flying or on conference calls. While the sound and noise cancelling were excellent, the BT switching was terrible between devices. NOW, with teh XM4 they seemed to have fixed that to allow switching between TWO devices relatively seamlessly. The sound quality has improved and even the noise cancelling seems to cover higher frequencies than before. The cans fit more comfortably as well. It should be noted that when shipped, the two device feature was not yet included and a firmware update was required. This was not clear until I called Sony support and they walked me though it. Also, I experienced some odd shutoffs during conference calls due, I think, to my AC running at high and possibly confusing the talk feature. I will experiment further next call. The instruction manual and help pages need overhaul. The pictographic explanations are lame.

I bought the headphones to reduce the noise from my upstairs neighbor who walks like a stampeding elephant. I wear them 24/7 to listen to music or watch TV. I would say the only issue is when you connect 2 devices via Bluetooth, there is a bit of interference.

Unexpectedly good

I got them to replace my Beats Solo pros and this pair hasn’t let me down. I miss the almost magical integration of my beats to my iPhone and iPad but these r okay since I can connect them to two devices (AND IT HAS AN AUDIO JACK). It even comes with an adaptor for a those weird airplane audio jacks

Amazing headphone!

Once I made minor adjustment to the Eq, the headphone really comes alive. I have custom settings for certain genre that can easily be swipe through within the app. In the beginning, head headphone had a strong clamp to my ears but after a few hours of use, it seem to have broken in. I had these on for hours While working and they felt comfortable, but my ears did get hot because the suction really cover my ears. The anc is out of this world. I don’t turn on the volume to high, maybe 20-25%. My wife was talking to me but couldn’t hear anything coming out of her mouth. :) I turn of the speak to chat feature when I am outside jogging. It seems to pick up some noises and activate the feature. This thing stays on pretty good while jogging. I would recommend turning up the ambient noise so you can hear incoming vehicles. Overall, I am really satisfied.

Top of the line with Excellent Noise Cancelling

As far as I'm concerned, the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones are the best noise cancelling headphones that I've owned. The case is small and the headphones fit nicely. The case has a nice spot for the USB cable and the odd airplane adapter. The ease of Bluetooth connecting to both my iPhone and HP Windows 10 laptop was without issues and the automatic switching between the two devices is flawless. Adaptive Sound Control monitors your physical location and changes as you move to different areas. I could go on and on but because of the many options in the app, I'm still learning what these headphones can do. All I can say is that if you tried the latest headphone from Bose, you will not be disappointed with the Sony's

XM4 are still great noise cancelling headphones

My two older children have them. This is the second set I have bought for my daughter. She - literally - wore the first pair to death (24 /7 - 7 days a week.) and they fell apart after 3 years. Unless you're a teenage girl, they will probably last you even longer. These are still probably one of the best pairs of noise cancelling headphones on the market and, these days, you can often get them on sale for much cheaper than Sony's current generation leader WHXM5s. I have enjoyed my own XM4s so much that I have seen no reason to upgrade - and probably won't - until my pair finally kicks the bucket. Unless you need to have the most current shiny - these remain a great choice in HQ NC headphones.

I watched a lot of video reviews before finally making the purchase and yeah they were all correct with their high praise of the XM4. The headphones come in 3 colors. I bought the black model. The headphone is light in weight and fits comfortably on my head and ears. The noise canceling works great. This should help with reducing the engine noise during airplane flights. There are a lot of cool tech packed into this headphone. Being able to connect to 2 bluetooth devices at the same time and the amazing 360-reality sound are just a couple. If you are not in a hurry, I would wait until the headphones go on sale to buy the XM4 which from what I have read occurs frequently. The XM4 is simply the best noise canceling headphones.
