I needed a pair of noise cancelling headphones and these didn't disappoint. There are 3 noise cancelling settings, and I've found the off setting still drowns out enough noise. The max setting it boots with each time is wayyy too strong for my taste and it's a weird sensation having no noise at all thanks to the noise cancelling tech. Anyone who needs zero noise will definitely appreciate that though! The headphones themselves feel premium, and the case is wonderful! Very easy to take on trips. Audio itself is just good, but given all the features and quality of the headphones, that is fine with me in this case. I would recommend these to anyone looking for over-ear noise cancelling.

Have not yet tried them on an airplane, but should be nice and quiet. Sound is very good. Can do a number of things; I have yet to learn them all, but they appear to be quite logical. JUST DO IT ALREADY

After using both for about 2 weeks 8 hours a day for work, I can confidently give my results.... BOSE had the better NC and phone call quality... However, Sony wins on every other aspect you can imagine... Sound quality is substantially better with music and voices in general.. Not to mention you can also adjust the frequencies to your own liking.. The app is a little weird and not every feature is fully explained on the Sony headphones, but I am so glad I got them.. There are already a lot of lengthy reviews but basically between these two, I would go sony every time.. Noise cancelling is amazing but just not quite up to par with bose in my opinion.. There are different reviews stating otherwise but IN AN OFFICE SETTING, I can hear my keyboard when I type having the sony headphones on.. With BOSE, I could not hear my keyboard... However I keep hearing sony blocks more overall frequency but I have just not been in the situation to compare.

You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while. The longer you wear headphones, the more your ears may hurt. You may need to limit your headphone usage.
