Excellent Headphones

They are replacing an older model WH-1000XM3, that broke just as the warranty expired. I hope these last longer, as they are the best for blocking airplane noise.

Superb noise canceling coupled with easy access to the airplane's entertainment system made the flight a relatively good experience, much more comfortable than I have sufferied in the past. I recommend these Sony headphones unreservedly.

To improve the volume range, you can download in your phone the Sony | Sound Connect app and check for firmware updates: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wh-1000xm4/software/00261613
Also, you can adjust the Equalizer settings to boost certain frequencies or overall gain.
In the app, set Sound Quality Mode to Priority on Sound Quality, which can improve dynamic range.

Great fit and feel. I came from the xm3s so its very minor in terms of an upgrade from the previous version. I wouldn't have grabbed them if it wasnt for the massive price drop. But the app the is necessary for at least the first Bluetooth connection to a device is meh. Its tries to make it easy to connect and modify the settings but its messy. It was alot simplier to connect to the headphones through my Bluetooth settings. But once that's done, everything works well and its becomes simple to customize settings and do system upgrades. If you dont wanna spend the money on the newest version and still have a great listen experience, get these headphones. Just have some patience first using the app.

The noise cancellation at work and on airplanes is incredible. I’ve had some synching with my phone, but I don’t really care about that.

Pros: They are comfortable, look great, sound proofing is future tech, and produce amazing sound quality that can be manipulated in high detail on the app. Cons: - Highly susceptible to water damage. Wore them for 5 minutes in the rain and the board fried so get that protection plan! - The app, while it does it's job well, is kind of wonky and not very user friendly.

You're shut off from construction sites, other passengers on board planes, trains, buses. Love the ability to cup my hand over the right 'phone and instantly my music turns down and I'm able to speak to someone who's addressing me. No fumbling.
