Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Couldn't get used to XM5's as you can't comfortably wear them around your neck the same way as those the ear cups can't bend towards you and your chin smacks them any time you turn your head so I ended up with these. I use these for nearly 8 hours a day while working and they feel slightly heavier than the XM3's I had before and added to the weight discomfort but I can tell the audio quality and noise cancelling is somewhat improved over the XM3's. I thought I'd like the auto pause when you take them off but having to hit play again just because I'm adjusting them or want them to keep playing music while hanging on neck does get mildly annoying

4 is better than 3

I nearly wore them out after 4 years of use and would still have them if they weren't stolen. The WH-1000XM4 are better in everyway. My old XM3 would let noise in even in noise cancelling mode. When I wear the XM4 I can't hear doors open or close or my pets. I can't hear outside noise like I could with my old headphones. This is a bonus for stuff like flights. It's terrifying when I'm at home. I don't use these at home because I can't hear anything outside the headphones. I went with the XM4 over the XM5 because I feel like the headband is sturdier and would fit my 63 cm circumference head.

love the noise canceling

I love them the most when flying. I was on a flight with co-workers and i could see them looking annoyed... apparently a baby had been screeching for at least a half hour. I wouldn't know because I didn't hear any of it. If you can get them on sale they're a great pair of headphones

I had the previous generation 1000xm3 and I loved them, when I heard that the 1000xm4 was coming out I sold the xm3. I they look more are less the same except a few additions like the on ear sensor that’s inside the left ear cup. The cushion on the top of the headphone is smaller. They also took away the ambient noise control button. Out of the box they sound just as good if not slightly better than the xm3. I love the new features they added like, connecting to two devices at the same time, when you talk the headphones let’s ambient noise, and when you take them off it pauses what ever you’re listening too all in all a great product! I’m more than satisfied.

It is somewhat eery how silent it is when they are turned on and on sound is playing. Good battery life and easy to switch between two devices.

And when you take the headset off it pauses the music. If only the sound was louder . Me personally I want to sound like I have in AirPods . But these are great for people that don’t care about the loudness

A nice upgrade

After my last pair of Sony headphones broke & played out I just stuck with in-ears. But I really did miss them so I purchased these at a nice sale. The sound is great and the noise canceling does what I need it to. The volume is great as well. Even on low I still can’t hear much unless it’s something really loud in the background. The only thing I’d suggest is immediately changing the settings on the app for the noise canceling. Out the box, the feature that turns noise canceling off and lowers the volume when ppl approach you to talk or whatever is super sensitive. Thought I got a defective pair since the sound kept cutting out every time I breathed, blinked, or thought about breathing or blinking lol.

Before I decided on these, I picked up Bose NC700, and I prefer these over the Bose. I find them more comfortable than the Bose, and they sure sound better to my ears. Highly recommended, especially if you find them at a discount.

Amazing Sound Quality

Although the price had me hesitant, these headphones are definitely worth the money. The sound quality is amazing, they fit great and it took over an hour before sweat became noticeable.

Sometimes I wish there were buttons on the back of the ear instead of touch response on the headphone itself but overall very happy with purchase.
