Great ANC headphones!

It sounds as good, but the ANC is quite a bit better. I bought some beats with ANC between the XM4 and XM5, and the beats were not great in any characteristic - comfort, sound quality, and ANC. The XM5 is top-notch in all 3 areas, and the app that controls the headphones is also top-notch.

Light and comfortable and the NR is excellent. I had originally purchase Air Pods Max, but they were so darn heavy. I am in a full Apple environment and the integration cannot be beat, but those things are ridiculously heavy. I will take the lack of integration to get the nice weight and comfort.

These are bigger than the competing Bose (qc35, 45) models and fit me much better. Would be five stars if they still folded like the previous version to take up less space in my bag. I also think the ANC and sound quality is better than the Bose models.

ANC is disappointing

First thing I noticed was they are super light weight! Once I got them connected to my iPhone the sound is fantastic, battery life is superb too! My biggest disappointment with these cans is the ANC! I took these on a flight today from Indianapolis to Las Vegas so I was on the plane for 4 hours just to find out these lack the ANC other headphones such as the airpod pro max and the Bose 700 offer. I own the AirPods max and have used a pair of Bose 700 extensively, especially on flights so hearing how the new Sony’s performed was very disappointing. If the AirPods max block out 95% of the noise I would say the Sony’s are 70%. It’s hard to explain but if you fly a lot then expect to be disappointed. You can obviously judge for yourself but after I got back in to town I drove to Best Buy just to take them back. ANC is a huge plus for me when I buy headphones, especially for the price that Sony is charging for them I want them to perform the way I expect. Apple is still the king of ANC and it’s by a mile, once again if you don’t believe me give it a try and you’ll see for yourself. I really have no idea how the reviews on YouTube are saying they’re that much better cause they’re not. If ANC isn’t a big deal for you then the weight, battery life, soundstage and look of the headphones are definitely superb! On another note the ambient mode is better than the XM4’s and the Bose 700 but fall to the AirPods max. Also I need to add the connectivity is great for an android but it’s not going to come close to how apple connects with the air pods max. Yes there is the price difference between the two but like they said, “You get what you pay for”

The design is very simple and clean regardless of the three colors sony is selling. The audio quality is very crisp with the large drivers it has and has amazing bass. The main key features i love about the XM5’s is the fast and responsive bluetooth connectivity and the sony headphone app for a more personalized experience to change how immersive the audio quality can be. The touch controls are also great and can also be customized. Everyone now a days seems to be turning to headphones the come with ANC (active noise cancelling) these headphones do not disappoint and its almost impossible to hear any pass through or external noise from loud environment. Can barely hear my spouse when she yells my name for something. These headphones are great for workouts, Gaming, or just about any activity for your needs. These are a 10/10

Sounds amazing and has really great noise cancellation. I really like the feel of these but since there is no water resistance I can’t help but wonder how long these will last before they start to deteriorate. People will always sweat with headphones on so it’s strange that they are no built for sweat-resistance. I also wish they were collapsible.

The ANC on these is very good as well, I wear these at university all the time and I can attest these are amazing, much better than my AirPod Pros that I used to use for studying and writing papers

The sound is great, they're very comfortable (I wear them for 6+ hours at a time and they cause no discomfort), and the batter life is awesome. 10/10 would recommend

Cost was about $100 less. The On/Off switch on this set is to small. I do not care for the swivel ear pieces. Otherwise the sound quality is excellent. Could have purchased a step down to less expensive model and been just as happy.

I loved the sound quality and noise cancellation, but as a glasses wearer my head would start hurting if I wore them for too long. I then turned to Bose’s QuietComfort but ended up returning them immediately because the sound quality and noise cancellation just didn’t match Sonys. So I decided to try the XM5s and they are truly the best headphones I’ve had. As comfortable if not more so than the Bose headphones, but with a far superior sound quality and noise cancellation. (So if you’re on the fence between the Bose and the Sony, go with the Sony!) My only very nitpicky complaint is that the microphone only works via Bluetooth, so if you’re using these headphones wired the microphone won’t work. Although this is probably not an issue for most people. And while some people don’t like that they don’t fold up I don’t mind and think the non-folding structure probably helps them feel more comfortable.

Please be advised that the microphone function of the headphones is disabled when using the supplied cable. Use the mic of your source device. These can be used with glasses. The WH-1000XM5 fits snugly around your ears. Unfortunately, they don't fold as they do in the XM4. For comfort, try adjusting the headband and the earpads properly. These lightweight headphones are beautifully finished in newly developed soft fit leather. This material fits snugly around the head with less pressure on the ears while keeping out external sounds. Very comfortable, with excellent sound. Very light. Easy to pair. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the black color has major fingerprint issues. Feels like the OLD Apple notebooks or the IBM Thinkpads from wayback. Should have bought silver.
