I purchased them thinking I could use them at the gym, but they’re prone to getting damaged, but they are really good headphones nonetheless!

Noise cancelling is very good, cancels all background noise. You can still hear a nearby conversation but it's muffled. Ambient noise feature is nice and it's adjustable.

I’ve used a lot of Beat headphones and wanted know what I was missing out with Noice Cancelling Over the Ear headphones. It’s everything I expected. Audio is extremely crisp without interruption from your surroundings. You have more control inside the app with Ambient surroundings which allow you to hear the space you’re surrounded in with music playing. You can also set the headphones to react to your voice, the moment you talk it’ll mute the song. That can get very annoying if you like singing to songs so I turned that feature off. It’s worth the investment to buy one of these. Only thing I thought would be better would be the Bass. There isn’t ANY AT ALL. For $400 you would think it would give you some nice bass, but it does make it up elsewhere.

Audio just as good as before. The ability to detect when you remove them is game changing! Seems to have better range as well.

Did not have the earlier version so I can’t compare however these headphones are comfortable and extremely quiet on planes where I use them the most. Sounds from bass to mids to treble is amazing. Connectivity extremely simple. Easy too use noise cancelling wear them all the time. I like that all I have to do is touch the side when I want to hear whats around me and as soon as i stop touching it like magic back to blocking out the world.

While the WH1000XM5 units don’t have an IPX rating, these can be worn in the gym. For more serious workouts, we suggest our headphones specifically designed for that task. Check out our WF-C500s and the WF-1000XM4s.

There is more technology in these headphones than i will ever use. I had Bose headphones for years. The ear padding wore out so i purchased the Sony headphones. The difference between them is like, the Bose are like driving a Lexus. The Sony is like driving a BMW. Both excellent but the Sony has a bit more power in the sound.
