Solid all around the board

Previously I was using the Bose QC 35s and like these a bit better. Noise canceling is top notch, music is bassy where it needs to be and treble comes through when it does. Battery life is solid. I use mine all day for meetings and listening to spotify and I charge it once every other day or so. Out of the Bose QC line up and the Apple Airpod Pro Maxes this is my favorite, though all three are solid.

A great set of cans!

Mainly to drown out the sounds of my home and people cutting grass and such while working. These are a great set of cans, as they should be for their price. They aren’t as nicely built as the Bose, but they are fairly light with no fatigue. While I like larger ear cups, they can be a bit distracting at times as I have a small head. The sound quality sounds a bit flat, but if you play with the EQ in the app, they come to life. I still think the x4 earbuds are tremendously better in SQ, but these fit a diff role and seem to be better for calls to me atleast. The battery life is TREMENDOUS to say the least!

First, the noise canceling is unreal. The moment I put them on, the world fades out. Background chatter, engines, and everyday noise just disappear, making them perfect for studying, travel, or winding down after a long day. Sony clearly refined their already top-tier ANC even further with this model. The sound quality is where these really shine. The audio is clean, balanced, and immersive. Bass is deep but controlled, mids are rich, and vocals sound incredibly natural. Whether I’m listening to music, watching videos, or taking calls, everything feels crisp and intentional. The adaptive sound features are smart and genuinely useful, adjusting seamlessly to my environment. Comfort is another huge win. They’re lightweight, the ear cups are soft, and I can wear them for hours without any pressure or fatigue. The Smoky Pink color is subtle, classy, and unique. It stands out without being flashy and feels very premium. Battery life has been excellent. I rarely worry about charging, and the fast-charge feature is a lifesaver when I’m on the go. Bass is not distorted even with high pounding rap nor with smooth lounging jazz. Comfortable to wear all day. Battery last seemingly forever. Flawlessly work with my all devices switching from phone to tablet to TV to desktop computer. Excellent at keeping my ears warm on cold winter days in Michigan. I have own many from B&W, Apple, Sennheiser, B&O and I have to say I am perfectly content with my Sony WH-1000XM5.

Good travel headphones.

The battery got messed up so I got the AirPods Max and when the XM5s came out, I figured to give them a shot. They are a good upgrade, they sound good in most to all music genres, but personally I EQ them to sound more neutral because the Sony line always have a bass-heavy sound profile. These are not as muddy and overwhelming though. The new added features are a welcome upgrade, and they are very comfortable. I’m already used to having non collapsible ear-cups, so it’s not the end of the world. They sound good, have tons of features, and have an attractive new design. They are good and a keeper for traveling.

The ANC is top notch, better than the 3's which I was already impressed with. Ability to connect to two devices is awesome! Yes they redesigned the headset so it doesn't fold up nearly as compact as the 3's, but I don't travel much and these seem a bit sturdier. The fit is better also, but again, I have no problems with the 3's in that regard. The sound is not as bassey as the 3's but they are much more clear with a wider stage. The battery life is... decent. Are they worth 400 eye-blistering dollars? Yes if you want the latest tech and no if you have higher financial priorities. They are, after all, only plastic headphones...

However, we are sorry we were not able meet your full expectations with regard the bass sound and battery life of the unit. If you haven't yet, please try to follow the troubleshooting steps below. To ensure an optimal listening experience, downloading the Sony Headphones Connect app lets you adjust your bass levels and gives you different sound modes. There is even an EQ in there—which can be customized to fine-tune your music to your liking. You can edit the volume of the CLEAR BASS. Increasing the CLEAR BASS setting value allows your headphones to reproduce dynamic deep bass without distortion, even at a high volume. NOTE: When the audio source does not contain much bass sound, the bass sound may not be audible.

Great but not a fan of matte finish

The matte finish is a little annoying- not sweat friendly and a little hard to clean up with wipes. Another thing I think that theyre the perfect weight.

Amazing Headphones! Gaming and Work Calls

The battery life lasts me a week or two of full use before I have to charge them. The quick charge is very clutch when in a pinch. They feel and look great too. I use them for gaming and work calls. By far, these headphones are the best consumer grade headphones that I've used. If you're the type of listener that enjoys the "fun mix" (your typical V-shaped equalization), with an emphasis on bass/low end clarity and feel, look no further. Compared to the older XM3s, the noise cancellation seems to be a little weaker in blocking out the lower end rumbling noises like on planes or buses, but excels in blocking out a lot of the nastier, higher pitched/shrilled noises you might hear in your day to day. Loud construction? These will block that. Screeching car brakes? These will block that. Yelling kids? These will block that. Nagging significant other? These will block that, at your own risk. Lastly, the comfort of these things are unmatched. I have a fairly big head. Clamping with a head like mine usually leads to ear fatigue over time. These, along with some of Sony's higher end audiophile offerings, are the only headphones I can wear all day and not experience fatigue. This thing has gone through multiple 8+ hour sessions and have not fatigued me ever. If you're looking for a pair of premium headphones that does an amazing job at blocking out noise AND offering a superb listening experience, it just doesn't get better than this. Nothing else competes.

GOOD: -extremely comfortable -quality materials -great battery life -app to customize to your preference of audio & other content featured such as noise cancellation or ambient audio -audio is amazing.. BAD: -case that comes with them doesn’t have anything to secure the section where the charger would be held -case doesn’t feel sturdy however it gets the job done Overall, I have to say that for the price these headphones offer you exactly what you’re looking for.

Comes in a wide range of colors and has been rated by many as the best in class. Highly recommend for long trips, cheaper then iPhone pro max, great battery life, and most importantly every stylish. This is definitely a great gift without breaking the bank with other premium headphones in the same space. The case covers and protects the whole ear phones. So far no negative issues as she has already used it for over 2 months since Christmas.

A great overall upgrade for the 1000 lineup!

In the realm of bluetooth ANC headphones ive owned the 1000 XM2 / Bose NC 700/ Sennheiser Momentum 3/ Bower & Wilkins PX/ PX7’s /Apple Airpods Max & Master & Dynamic MH65. Each brand has its pros and cons and design uniqueness. In retrospect, i love headphones and respect each companies vision for their products. In regards to the the XM5, in short these are a GREAT addition to the 1000 lineup! Remember, these are wireless consumer grade headphones. So wireless codec even though its LDAC supportive will never get even close to a wired headphone with a DAC connected to it. Bluetooth as it stands cant even compare to a CD Quality grade sound which is 16 bit 44.1 kHz. So take that info for what its worth. Proper Hi Res support is attainable via wired designated (Sennheiser HD 650/ Focal Clear/ HiFiMan) and a DAC/AmP with a proper source like Tidal/ Qobuz & Apple Music loseless. As a general consumer product its perfect. Its drivers though smaller is much more refined from the XM’s the EQ option is perfect. The noise cancelling is stronger than the XM4’s. The major upgrade are the voice mics their much clearer and crisper for yhe receiver. The design to me feels more premium from the XM4, just unfortunate that it doesnt fold. Now in terms of value, thw price is just right. Comparedto the Apple Airpods Max thats a toigh choice. If youre in the apple ecosystem definitely get the Max over the XM5 but overall i would choose the XM5 due to the app and weight of the headphones.
