In the app, you can confirm that Adaptive Sound Control is OFF (as it can sometimes switch to Ambient Sound mode) and that the Ambient Sound Control setting is clearly set to Noise Cancelling in the "Sound" tab.

The XM4s might be able to fold but these premium headphones paired with an android or iphone do much more to separate itself from the pack. Cheaper price as well.

The Bass, clarity of the sound, the vibration, details of the back ground instrument is harmonically combined and it delivers to your ears with the most details. Of course, the source of the sound also has to be good enough to fully appreciate the headphones. Noise cancelling is great works perfectly in the environment I am using. Mostly Airplane, Train and in the park. Voice call is nominal. It does what all the headphone would do. Overall as a NC Headphone this is a great product.

I wished the sound was a little more crisp and sounded a little louder! Other than that I would recommend 9/10.

Great ANC, very comfortable, and good sound qualit

Also very comfortable, I do not usually like/use headphones because they give me headaches, but I have worn these a few hours without issue. The sound quality it also very good, not tiney or washed out at all, also not too bass heavy. If I had to say one negative it would be that they are a little bulky to travel with because they do not fold up. However, they plus side to that is that they feel more durable. Overall, as reflected in the 5 stars, definitely a worth it purschase if you like to listen tk music while working in public and do not want to hear all the noise or if you are traveling.

I have the Apple AirPods Max as well, but Sony has out done themselves with the xm5s. The sound is amazing especially after you figure out the app. I thought it would be more difficult, but you can change all the eq settings which is great. You can also set settings depending on your location too. And don't forget about the hands down best noise cancellation. Don’t let people say oh the hinges break so easy. Remember these are headphones meant for quality audio, not rugged use. They are so light you barely feel them. Sony has won me over with these.

The build quality would not be as big of an issue if Sonys warranty covered this very common issue but they refuse and charge a premium to fix it.
