If you can stomach the price, they sound great and the wireless connection is quite good. (Not AS convenient as other headphones; if you use the LDAC codec you can't use multipoint connections.) They sound just a bit cleaner than the XM4 but lose some of the bass punch. I prefer my Shure Aonic 50s for listening to music, but these are still great. The carrying case is also notably bulkier than the XM4s, as these don't fold in on themselves. They look fairly cool, and are pretty comfortable for hours on end, but - especially since it has touch controls - the black finish collects fingerprint oil very fast (seems the silver has a different texture/feel and doesn't have that problem). Fast charging, good battery life, decently low latency despite not being Apt-X-LL. They do actually perform great as headphones for phone calls, vastly better than others I've tried. No one has yet said anything negative about the call quality. The carrying case is bulkier than the XM4.

My first high end headphones, and I am already impressed by the sound it delivers while listening to music or watching movies. Since I have several Apple products, I was initially considering the AirPods Max, but it didn’t justify the price difference with these Sony headphones. I can’t compare both since there was no AirPods Max on display at the Best Buy store. Noise canceling is top notch on these Sony XM5 headphones, just used it on a 16-hr flight and I could barely hear any aircraft noise while watching For All Mankind episodes on my iPhone. Bass are good but not too much, dialogues are clear. Battery is very good, after watching 4 episodes and listening music for couple hours, I still had around 80% battery left. I also used the headphones for work with Teams on a Windows laptop. Easily paired with the laptop, and can be switched between laptop and iPhone without any problem. I have also been told my voice is very clear when I talk on Teams meeting.

These headphones are quite impressive for at a inexpensive price. The sound quality with noise cancelation adds to its great functionality. The material, weight, adjustable fit, battery life, and user-friendly interface connection are additional great features as well.

[Employee of bestbuy] I loved my 1000XM3s. They were my daily driver headphones for over 2 years. When they finally died on me, I decided to try the Apple AirPods Max. Wow what a mistake that was. They were bulky, heavy, and did not sound nearly as good as I would have hoped for their cost. I returned the AirPods for these Sonys, which were on sale for about half the price of the AirPods. These sound SO MUCH more premium and are infinitely more comfortable. I wish these would fold up a little smaller, but I have no real complaints about them. I love that I can use these as Bluetooth or with an INCLUDED aux cable.

The quality of sound on these is astounding as well as its battery life. You practically dont notice them when theyre on your head either.

Oh my.... These are the best pair of wireless headphones I've owned. I was daily driving the wf-1000xm4 ear buds. But my ears get fatigued pretty easily. I decided I would get a pair of headphones to switch it up. Since I liked the features that came with the Sony xm4 ear buds, I thought I'd give the WH-1000xm5 a try. I've only had it for less than a week but I have become obsessed with them to the point where I spend most of my day wearing them. Sound quality is pretty nice, The ANC works nicely, The touch features are pretty cool, and The battery lasts ridiculously long. So as far as cons go, I can say that The touch feature can get annoying if you're just adjusting the headset. It doesn't annoy me too much but if it did the touch feature can always be turned off with the app. Other issues I have are software related, which are not deal breakers when considering the overwhelming positives.

comfortable headphones - I have glasses and I cannot have the headphones too tight. These stay on nicely and don't feel like they will damage my glasses. sound quality - is excellent. I've got a music service that these headphones can take advantage of for better sound. battery life - haven't really tested this. Although they have lasted all day while I travel. style - i like the simplistic design on the headphones and the color does stand out a bit, but i don't want to forget it anywhere so I need it to be different. wireless - Bluetooth is really good on these cans. I love being able to walk around the house and not worry about dropouts.

These headphones are really nice, i can’t compare them to others bc i usually have airpods. I would say the noise cancellation is high quality, and they are also comfortable, i do feel a bit of a headache if i leave them on for too long bc they are a little heavy. Recently it has been turning off my sound cancelling which was really annoying but it’s a click of a button to fix and maybe i have something in the settings that makes it do that. I’d recommend them but only if ur willing to spend the hefty $400+tax price. The sound is amazing, and you can get the app which allows you to change how you hear the music, more bass etc.. but listening to the 4’s in store they sound similar, the 5’s are just a bit crisper and i like the look of them more. Also I have charged them once in like mid sept (posting 10/6) and the battery is amazing i think i’m at 40%. the case is a little bulky but i don’t mind bc it still fits in my bag

[Employee of bestbuy] To be honest not a major jump from the xm4s but I do like the overall design better and some say the comfort is worse on these in my honest opinion they’re just as comfortable if not better. Did notice some improvement with Noise cancellation and transparency mode. Note you can’t fold the 5s but for me was no biggie because they feel a lot more sturdy than the previous generation

They are great headphones! The WH-1000XM5 have quite the exceptional sound quality. It’s as if I’m in the very room whatever I’m listening to is recorded. It has an easy set up and the look and feel of the headphones are top notch. They are comfortable and fit snuggly in your ears. The application it comes with helps you set up the headphones to you deep off and unique needs. Battery life is outstanding , I use it most of the day and only need to charge it once or twice a week. Recommending the headphones is a no-brainer. If your looking for quality headphones that will last your for years, then this is your choice. It’s a must!

After investing in the XM4's, i saw this model and all of its improvements. Sturdy build, comfortable ear cups, and long battery life with great sound. My only cripe would be that it doesnt fold, so the case is a bit big, but well worth the sacrifice

I've been extremely impressed with the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. The sound quality is outstanding, with deep, controlled bass, clear mids, and crisp highs that make everything from music to podcasts sound fantastic. The active noise cancellation is among the best I've ever used—it easily blocks out office chatter, road noise, and even airplane cabin noise, making it much easier to focus or just enjoy what I'm listening to. They're also incredibly comfortable. I can wear them for several hours without feeling any discomfort, and the lightweight design makes a big difference during long listening sessions. Battery life is excellent as well, lasting for days between charges with normal use, and the quick-charge feature is a lifesaver when I'm in a hurry. The touch controls are responsive, Bluetooth connection is fast and reliable, and switching between multiple devices works seamlessly. Call quality has also been excellent, with people on the other end saying my voice comes through clearly even in noisy environments. The only minor downside is that they don't fold up as compactly as some older Sony models, but that's a small trade-off considering how well they perform in every other area. Overall, the WH-1000XM5s are worth every penny. If you're looking for premium wireless headphones with exceptional sound quality, industry-leading noise cancellation, great comfort, and long battery life, I highly recommend them. 5/5 stars.

Phenomenal sound quality and super comfortable, noise cancellation is also the best I’ve ever felt in any headphones. Only downside is a weaker bass, but this can be slightly enhanced with settings in the Song sound app

I travel quite a bit and I needed something that could give me quality sound and block out engine noise and crying babies on my flights. Love the quality, the feel, the long battery life, the sound and the noise cancelling ability.

I use the XM5 for both my Windows Laptop and iPhone. It's amazing! The fact these headphones have 30 hours' worth of battery life, and customizable EQ settings (they only apply to my iPhone) make this worth my $400. Yes you can use the XM5 with Windows. I have not experienced any audio/visual delay during use. You can configure the headphone properties in Sound settings, and enable bass boost if you like. From what I can hear, the EQ settings I configure with the Sony Headphones only apply to my phone, not my laptop. Nonetheless, if you set them right, you can make one of the best listening experiences possible. For loud work (i.e. vacuuming the house), they do an excellent job cancelling noise. The case is stylish and easy to use. Unfortunately these headphones don't fold like their predecessor. Overall, this product is awesome. I'm glad I bought it.
