As the headband goes around and down, it eventually stops and starts curving to the outside. Right there is the issue. On the inside part right where it "detours" is where it snaps. Cheaply built though you pay a small fortune for the headset. If Sony doesn't start building them with more robustness, I wouldn't waste my time. On the 2nd set I bought, I also got the extended warranty anticipating this happening again ( $70 ). So glad I did because they lasted maybe 4 months. And here's the kicker; as soon as I returned them, they cancelled the warranty saying it had been fulfilled. My memory isn't what it once was, but I could have swore it was good for two whole years. So no matter how many times they broke I was covered. Not true. You fulfill it once and they cancel you, or at least they did it to me. So now I'm on my 3rd set and treating them with kid gloves. Once they snap again, I'm done with Sony too ( another manufacturer didn't produce a quality (longevity) product and twice their noise cancelling product crapped out after a year and the 2nd set gave up the ghost after 8 months. Well known brand that touts deep bass. Certainly don't build products like they used to. Today it's a buy new every other half year and we'll (the corporation) keep building crap.

Great upgrade

On/off detection is my favorite feature upgrade going from the 3s to the 5s, definitely saves on battery life for my forgetful self. They are also much lighter and more comfortable when wearing for long periods. I gave them a nice 12 hour trial run right after getting them and was plesently surprised how little ear fatigue I had. After wearing the xm3s that long I'd start twitching above the ear, nothing like that with the 5s. They're really good at switching between devices. I switch between my phone (android), iPad, and laptop (windows) quite a bit and haven't had to manually toggle the connection at all so far. I wish it was a little more visually clear which side is left vs right. They are labeled, but it's kinda hard to see in low light and I can never remember which side the power button goes on and always seem to miss it when I'm feeling for it to put them on.

Great for the gym, work, daily use

Physical aspects: pretty light, won’t feel heavy on your head. Sound quality is amazing. You can adjust it (noise cancelling) when you go on walks at night you can turn off noise cancellations (for safety), you’ll find the feature on “scene based listening” on the Sound Connect app. After 2 years it still feels brand new. The battery lasts pretty long and and also charges fast. I highly recommend this over the overpriced fruit brand.

I swapped from the airpod pro 3's and these were a welcome change. They fit well and don't fall out of my ears. Sound is good after changing EQ settings in app.

On the positive side, the sound and the noise reduction are the best yet, which is primary. There are, however, some negatives. Most important, these cost $400, and there is still no basic waterproofing! I don't want to go on a walk on a summer day and destroy the headphones because I am sweating or get caught in the rain. And if it rains, you can't just fold up the phones and put them in your pocket: their "innovative" design eliminated the foldable earpieces of previous versions. I almost returned them, but I decided the sound and noise reduction outweighed the negatives. But c'm'on, Sony, can't you do better than this?

If water or foreign matter enters the headset, this can result in burnout or malfunction. Avoid situations such as the following and be careful not to get moisture or dirt on the headset. With four microphones on each earcup, this is our biggest ever step forward in noise cancelling. Ambient sound is captured even more accurately for a dramatic reduction in high-frequency noise. Thanks to Auto NC Optimizer, noise-cancelling performance is always and automatically optimized based on wearing conditions and external environmental factors such as atmospheric pressure.

I choose to keep it on a middle level because it allows me to hear a bit of my surroundings. i find this most helpful since noise canceling can often trigger my vertigo. I keep the "focus on voice" option on, it creates an amplifying speaker effect on the voices. From an aesthetic viewpoint, I like their clean leather feel, plush sit, but find that they stain/scratch easily. The case it comes in isn't sturdy, so I would be convenient to buy a separate case to protect them. Additionally, these headphones do not come with the USB-C Power Adapter. I will continue to see how I feel about these headphones over the next few months. This review is after having them for 1 month.

The Best for Noise Cancellation and Call Quality

They considerably outperformed my Air Pod Max's, especially the microphone. I was surprised, that the microphone quality is also considerably better than my Air Pod Pro 2's. It is very nice to be able to adjust the level of transparency. Their sound quality for music is good, but not really better than the Air Pod Pro 2's (if you fully configure them). Without question, Air Pod Max's sound better if music is your main focus.

Worth every penny

After asking around and trying another major competitor I settled on them. The sound quality is as you’d expect from higher end headphones from Sony, very good. I love the deeper end of the sound. I use them when I work outside because I love the noise canceling. It removes at least half the noise from the lawnmower. I was told they wouldn’t work well with my Xbox because the dialogue would be off. That is wrong. I use them every day and never notice any dialogue or other sounds being “off”. It was well worth what I paid.
