I had a trip upcoming and I was hoping for new and faster microprocessor technology. My Bose never disappointed, but these Sony headphones are magical. So very quiet I'm N/C mode. Almost made my air travel bearable.

Amazing headphones for just about everything

I’ve been used to AirPods and gaming headsets and I cannot even express how much better the MX5’s are than anything I’ve used. The noise canceling was the most surprising, I expected it to dampen most things around me but it simply cuts out all sound. Road-trips, air travel, gym sounds, and construction zones’ sound pollution are completely removed from my life when I turn on the noise canceling. The mobile app is relatively confusion free and simple to set up. The custom EQ settings were great for finding my favorite audio experience for music. If you’re looking to use these as gaming headphones, I’d look elsewhere. While the sound is amazing, the latency is a bit too much for any sort of competitive games. However, I’ll use these for single player games to enjoy the atmosphere even more. Before I got these I read quite a few reviews about them not being good for gym usage, but I disagree. They cut out all sound and I can’t hear the gym’s music, treadmills running, or weights slamming (unless they’re my own). In terms of sweat damage, they dry off quickly and as long as you take care of them and clean them, it’ll just be fine. I sweat quite a bit and have noticed zero problems with anything during or after workout.

After they remodeled it the Woodland Hills One to begin with if you're looking for a set of over their ear headphones that will clear out any noise and make it as quiet as possible. Then you're in the right place. Not only are these headphones very very comfortable with their vegan leather material, but they fit on the head like a glove they offer the same battery life as the previous model at 30 hours. But you want the best and noise canceling and comfort you're in the right place the Sony headphones here or everything you need the app offers you a lot of ways to customize your sound profile and everything. You need go ahead and buy them while you can now that today is the last day of the Black Friday deals at 329 with a $70 discount. What more could you want buy them? I recommend them they are truly amazing.

Great Headphones for Me

Aside from a slight discomfort after wearing them for hours at a time, these are great headphones. The versatility of being able to have them wired or not is exactly what I wanted from headphones. I can use them to plug into airplane monitors, my external desktop mic while gaming, and my laptop if needed. All while having the option to go wireless if needed. Coming from the Bose QC35ii, the fact that these headphones dont fold up is slightly annoying, but its not the end of the world. The gestures on the earcup work the way theyre supposed to and the passthrough is nice if you need it. Battery is hardly ever an issue. Only once has it needed to be charged at an inconvenient time (and thats bc I hadn't charged them in 3 weeks).

Bluetooth pairing button flimsy. If it works well why downgrade? Was it a cost thing? because its still very expensive. Im tempted to get the earlier model for the convenience.

They're super comfy to wear, have amazing sound quality, and the battery life lasts forever. I also appreciate how easy they are to clean and maintain. The noise canceling is really impressive—though one small downside (maybe user error?) is that it sometimes activates when I move my head or bend down. Otherwise, they’re nearly perfect!

Regarding the noise cancelling activating when you move your head or bend down, a simple fix is to turn off the Adaptive Sound Control feature in the Sony | Sound Connect app. This will keep the noise cancelling at its most powerful setting until you decide to change it. Give that a try!

These Sony headphones were purchased as a replacement for the Airpods Max. I trust Sony headphones enough to try these, they borrow some of the features of the Airpods Max. The headphones borrow the tight fitting overhead noise cancellation fit of the aforementioned headphones. They’re snug, but unlike the Apple they make you perspire. They are sweaty after 30-40 minutes. The Apple never produces that in three years of ownership. The sound is good, what you would expect from Sony. The headphones similarly produce spatial sound like the Max. It’s necessary to download an app to make them work, which was okay on my personal phone, but when I tried to use them on my work phone it didn’t pair. I would rate these headphones 3 out of 5 stars, overall good affordable Sony product.

Great music quality

They arent rated for water/sweating resistance, but i found a quick wipe down if i ever feel too sweaty does the trick. I love the music quality and the app that allows you to customize the EQ and touch controls when using them. I have an iphone so everything points to me getting the airpod max for "seamless" connections between my phone and iPad, but I already have the airpod pros and they are nice but I needed more control with how I wanted to listen to different genres of music with EQ customizations. The airpods pro do tend to slip out my ear canal often so I end up pushing them in to benefit from ANC, even swapped out the rubber ear tips with silicone ones and they still slip out. So I got the Sony wf-1000xm4 to replace the airpods pro, they were a game changer. More comfortable and better ANC due to solid seal into my ear. Plus they never slip out, never need to adjust while at the gym. Decided to stick with Sony for an over the ear headphone and so happy I did. I switch between them when I go to the gym. Going to get the sony wf-1000xm5 when they have any deals. TLDR: Overall I'd recommend the Sony wh-1000xm5 Pros: Great fit, comfortable and light, app with extra customization, EQ, cheaper than Airpod Pro Max. Cons: the light weight makes them feel "cheap" ( even thou they aren't ), not IP water resistant rated and Sonys complicated naming for their headphones.
