Replacing my XM4s

So I decided to get the XM5s on sale and they are just as good, if not better than the XM4s. The headphones sound great and aesthetically pleasing. I wouldn't necessarily upgrade from the XM4, but if you don't have either, go ahead and grab the XM5. You won't regret it!

I originanly boguht them to try them out and to see if they were worth the big price, but let me say, every cent is worth it! Ive never used such premium sounding headphones that are worth the money! I love the fact they sound wonderful, the amazing noise counseling, and even the fact I can connect them to my gaming console with the cord that comes with them, and listen to my video games! Song is where it’s at!

Good but with some faults..

After seeing multiple reviews online it seemed like they were only rivaled by the Airpod Maxes. When I got the headphones I immediately didn't love the sound quality. You have the option to change the EQ in an app that you use to customize the headphones as well as their transparency mode. In my opinion the bass is very lacking. You either can barely get any of it or you turn it up and it drowns out the higher end. The touch controls are very handy and easy to figure out. One more issue I had was with the noise cancelling. I'm not expecting noise cancellation to create complete silence but I could nearly hear everything when I used it. I was surprised with how lacking it was. Eventually I ended up taking these back and buying a pair of APMs. Not only is the sound better but the noise cancelling is impressively better. Both have a great transparency mode but with the Sony's you feel like you're talking through headphones because everything sounds muffled or as if it's coming through a megaphone if that makes sense. With the Maxes it's like you're not even wearing headphones. I'd say if you're an Apple user to just save up and invest in the APM's. If you want a nice pair of headphones that are close in quality then these are the next best step. Be aware you may need to tweak the EQ first if you're not getting the sound you desire and definitely don't expect the best noise cancelling. Even Bose are better when it comes to ANC. Overall, decent pair of headphones but just not suited to my needs.

Great quality, but maybe mine is defective?

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to these from the XM3 model (which I loved, no issues at all) and even though these are great headphones with great sound quality, I’d barely consider them an upgrade. The sound quality is barely better than my old ones (the bar was pretty high to begin with though) & there are some new features that I don’t use much but they’re still cool. However, the thinner headband means it hurts my head after a while, whereas I could wear the XM3’s for hours on end without any discomfort. On top of that, there’s a very startling thumping noise that occurs ever so often that’s louder than the music. It sounds as if someone is hitting the ear cuff from the outside. Also, ever so often, they will shut off for no reason at all. Not because it ran out of battery, not because I pressed the power button, not for any known reason. It just turns off. It turns right back on when I press the power button, but it sure is annoying. Maybe I got a defective product, but it was new from an unopened box. I’m pretty disappointed by those irritants but since it still has Sony’s trademark quality and functions well the majority of the time, I’ll deal with it until I can afford to replace them.

I had the xm3 and just bought the xm5s. Way better noise cancelling that i love the most and the call quality is perfect. I took a phone call with lawnmower noise in the backtound and my sister said she could hear me perfect and clear. So two thumbs up for that. Lasty the sound quality is amazing as expected like my xm3s. So five stars for sure.

I was completely blown away by the 5 (they don’t fold up like the 4) the sound is incredible. They knock the BOSE out the park, (my personal opinion). They also have an app that my nephew downloaded for me and I can make adjustments to the sound and many of the other features. My nephew is doing chores around my house to make extra money to purchase the XMS5.
