They worked great! I was able to listen to my movie without having to crank up the volume. The noise cancelling was amazing. I also liked the ability to pause the movie with a tap on the headphone and turn off the noise cancelling by covering it with my hand to hear the announcements. I definitively recommend these.

Expensive but perfect for music lover!

The noise cancelling works very well, allows me to get lots of work done with little to no distractions. It's features are really good, plus it's connection quality is great! While they're expensive, they're definitely worth every dollar if you're someone who loves listening to music alot!

Worse than last version should be half the price

Great noise isolation best I've experienced, great battery life, super comfortable but sound quality, which is most important, is awful at this price range. Almost underwater sounding and can't properly adjust third party EQ to fix, and the vegan leather doesn't seem it will last too long. Love the 3.5 option though. So overpriced for the quality of audio one gets, worse than xm4. Terrible option for Windows users, can't use Sony app with EQ without Google account and third party software to run app on Windows properly. I can't justify this purchase, maybe if it lived up to Sony's supposed great reputation of pleasing audiophiles like myself, but they're moving backwards with sound quality at this point. Too much focus on being mobile with Bluetooth, time to go back to old school wired for home.

Sony Noise canceling phones - best out there

The hospital is busy and noisy - these phones are amazing. They give me the peace and quiet I need to get through my long days. Great value, and amazing sound quality. Highly recommend these if you travel, or just want some IAT (Independent Alone Time) with yourself! Rock on Sony.

We also appreciate your honest thoughts about the noise canceling. To help maximize performance, we suggest checking the Sony | Sound Connect app.
In the app, you can confirm that Adaptive Sound Control is OFF (as it can sometimes switch to Ambient Sound mode) and that the Ambient Sound Control setting is clearly set to Noise Cancelling in the "Sound" tab.

I was very disappointed. I decided to go with these XM5's and at the very first listen i FELL IN LOVE! These headphone sleave the Bose ones in the dust! I've never purchased such expensive headphones...these were WORTH it. They completely block out sound. I went to a car wash, sat close to the machine tunnel, played music and could not hear the car wash AT ALL. The smart features are super convenient. If they were waterporoof I would never removw them. Super amazing.
