We also added 2 processors that control 8 microphones for unprecedented noise cancellation and improved call quality. With a newly developed 30mm driver, DSEE – Extreme and Hi-Res audio support they provide improved audio quality. The Voice Pickup Technology uses 4 microphones that are calibrated to only pick up your voice. The changes made were designed to improve on our already well regarded headphones.

When playing music, if the headset and the transmitting Bluetooth device are connected via an HFP or HSP Bluetooth connection, switch the Bluetooth connection to A2DP with the connected device. Despite your concern, it's good to know that you still like your headphones. With our WH-1000XM5 headphones, you can enjoy magnificent sound quality which is engineered to perfection and have a battery life that can last up to 30 hours with quick charging (3 min charge for 3 hours of playback). Posted .Hi LoriC, We appreciate your time sharing your experience using the WH1000XM5. We regret to hear that these hurt your ears after extended play and noise canceling did not meet your expectations. Some reasons why your ears may hurt when putting on or wearing headphones:
1. You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue.
Note: Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while.
2. How long have you been wearing the headphones? The longer you wear headphones, the more your ears may hurt.
Note: You may need to limit your headphone usage.
3. The design may not fit your head and/or ears. They may be too big, too small, or too tight.

Cheaply made trash

So now my headphones don't fit at all and the noise canceling is useless even if I tape it up. The build quality on these is horrible for how expensive this piece of junk is. Even my WH1000XM4s lasted way longer, they redesigned these to be even more fragile. No wonder they push protection plans on us, it's because of shoddily made overpriced stuff like this. Can't believe how much money I wasted on this.

Overpriced and overhyped

I watched a ton of reviews on these and everyone said how amazing they are and the quality can’t be beat. That was not true. They look premium but the feel is cheap very plastic and light weight. When you compare them to the Bose 700’s or the AirPods Max the quality isn’t even close. The sound quality was average. Did not feel like I was getting anything more than what I had in my AirPods except for bigger sound but there wasn’t anything more. I was expecting something to really hit me for 400 bucks. I had the Sony app and tried everything but didn’t help. I will add that if you’re in the apple eco system these are not it at all. They don’t flow and make it easy like an apple product would. Overall I was disappointed and very underwhelmed.
