Great Headphones, Don't regret!

Invisible mode is fantastic, cell phone call quality is great. ANC has a little to be desired for me, but I think I was expecting too much of the technology. My family plays lullaby music through the house at night and I expected to not be able to hear that through the ANC, but I still can. When consistent audio is playing the sound stage is fantastic and you can't really hear your surroundings, its the quiet moments you can though. Was awesome watching a movie on the airplane with these.

Best sub $500 Over-The-Ear Headpohnes

Purchased the Sonos Ace and the Apple Air Pods Max and the Sony 1000XM5 out performed them by a land slide. The clarity was comparable to the Ace and Max, but the bass was significantly better. This review is for a second pair I ordered for my wife!

Those are things that the reviews of these headphones do get pretty right in my opinion. The sound needs a bit of balancing before they are perfect but it's pretty good out of the box. The travel case is super nice and the software side, so far, has not had any issues. I will say the full $400 is a tad much but if you can get it for $300 or lower, especially now that the XM6's are out, I would say these are a good buy.

Posted .Hi JoshW, We're glad that you like the audio quality and comfort. We're also sorry if it starts to hurt after awhile. There are different reasons why your ears may hurt when putting on or wearing headphones such as:
Under certain environmental conditions, especially when the air is very dry, it is not uncommon to experience a slight static electricity discharge or mild shock when your body comes in contact with another object, in this case the ear buds touching your ear(s). The energy from this natural discharge is extremely small and was not generated by your product but rather a natural environmental occurrence. There is no safety issue with the product itself.
You may be experiencing a symptom called listener fatigue. That is where your eardrums work hard to manage the volume that flows through your ear canal. The louder the volume, the bigger the strain on your eardrums, which then causes the feeling of fatigue. Note: Try lowering the volume or take a break from wearing them for a while.
How long have you been wearing the headphones? The longer you wear headphones, the more your ears may hurt. Note: You may need to limit your headphone usage.

Noise cancelling is very effective. The only thing, is I would just pay the extra $60 for the xm6 right now, since the noise cancelling is even better with those.

Great noise canceling and comfortable

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So first off… The quality of the noise canceling is better than any other headphones I've tried, to the point I can't even notice my roommate talking at me from across the living room. I previously had the XM4 headphones before selling them to my roommate and upgrading to these – the ANC is ever-so-slightly better, though both are fantastic and would be a good purchase (my roommate was considering leaving this apartment at the end of our lease because the city noise was too much, but now she just puts on great noise-canceling headphones when outside noise is annoying and decided she is going to stay). The biggest upgrade on these headphones vs. the XM4 is the size of the earpieces, which (on my head) makes it so the headphones don't move around when wearing the headphones and moving my head, unlike the XM4s which had a little movement. The sound quality itself is great also, though much better with some tweaking of the equalizer on the Sony headphones app. I wasn't dead set on any of the equalizer presets, so customized it myself and found a good balance. Another major bonus: these use Bluetooth 5.2 instead of the XM4's Bluetooth 5.0. Both headphones connect fine to my phone and computer, but these have a stable connection with my TV (a 2018 Samsung Q9F) while the XM4 jumps in and out and is pretty much unusable with the TV. The one knock on these headphones is that the headband is kind of thin, so the headphones can get a bit uncomfortable on the top of the head after a few hours. I wear them loose, with the headband extended, so it doesn't put quite so much pressure on the top of my head. The top of the headband is more comfortable on the XM4s if that's really a concern for you. Final thought: if you are deciding between these and the slightly-cheaper XM4s, a visit to Best Buy might be worthwhile. I tried these on in-store and the comfort of the ear covers and lack of movement compared to the XM4 was worth the upgrade IMO. It might be different for people with different sized or shaped heads, though.

Quite durable too, I’m a kitchen manager at a restaurant and I wear these back there. they survivors. The battery lasts forever. I can’t close them up like other over the head headphones but that doesn’t outshine the positives at all. This purchase isn’t for me, they’re so good, I’m getting a pair for my sister for Christmas.

My first and best noise cancelling headphones

I just put it on and forget it's there. As much as I love the noise cancellation, it's not perfect. Like when I was on plane, it cancelled out the engine noise but kinda amplified the couple talking behind me. I checked if the ambient sound with voice was turned on but no. Noise cancellation was fully on. It was like hearing their podcast. Sometimes I hate how much space this thing takes in my bag. I love how I don't need to worry about charging it cus it lasts for like 30 hours or something.
