Inferior quality - expecting Sony to recall
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy these headphones "WH1000XM5", the physical quality of these headphones do not match the high price. I got the Sony - WH1000XM5 6 months ago and the sound quality was always great though the headphones themselves felt flimsy when compared to WH1000XM4. That is, up until recently when the plastic of the right swivel piece cracked and a piece fell off, rendering the headphones unusable. I would understand if this was due to rough handling, this was from normal use leading to the right swivel breaking and the right speaker being left dangling by the wire (please see the attached pictures). Many others who’ve purchased this product have had the exact same issue with the exact same piece, suggesting a definite manufacturing defect. But Sony refuses to either recall or cover the damages, despite the headphones being under warranty, just a simple google search "wh1000xm5 broken hinge issue" will show the exact same issue occurring all across the globe. When contacting customer support they simply referred me to a separate repair shop and said there was nothing they could do. All in all a terrible experience and would not purchase headphones from Sony again, you’re much better off purchasing from a brand such as Bose or Apple where the product is sturdy and they stand behind their products whether it is good or bad, providing ample and just customer support. Being a loyal Sony customer, purchasing everything from their Sound System, to TV's to Playstation, my expectation is that Sony, as a flagship product, needs to step up and do a recall. This will set the right brand image for Sony backing their reputation.

Love the feature that lowers the volume when you place your hand on the right side of the headset to hear when someone needs to talk to you. Having the headphone charged via usb is great....no more batteries! They also hold the charge for a long time. Very happy with this purchase.

Amazing headphones!!

I love using them when i just want to get lost in the music, the bass and treble is good and the eq is good. They do get my ears warm from the material of the ear muffs after using them for a while. noise cancelling is great but app gives me issues

I would give 5 stars however the price is high in my opinion. I love all the features, the app looks dated but is still useful. The only issues I have are regarding app settings changing and having to reset them each time I turn the headset on/off. Specifically the feature that pauses music when you turn your head gets annoying, I change it in the app however it changes back between uses. Overall, solid headphones but pricey for app annoyances.

Have had them now for a few months and one of my best purchases to date. The sound quality is outstanding and I love how noise canceling these are. They also do not hurt my head at all or feel tight. These are one of the first headphones to not give me headaches. I have many pairs of headphones and these are number one in my list.

Sounds amazing and has really great noise cancellation. I really like the feel of these but since there is no water resistance I can’t help but wonder how long these will last before they start to deteriorate. People will always sweat with headphones on so it’s strange that they are no built for sweat-resistance. I also wish they were collapsible.

An ideal headphones with minor issues

Looks amazing and you can wear it all the times. Its true to every good thing you can find it in all the reviewa. I have been facing connectivity issues form day 1 and whatever I do it is still there. I also noticed the sound quality is not the best for the price point but it's not bad either.

These are lightweight sound quality is great and very comfortable! The carrying case is great for flights. I was between these and airpods max, the portability of these is better than airpods max and sound quality sounds better on these! All the way sony nice work!

The noise cancelling feature is fantastic, i ise it at work daily. It is convenient to have a button that turns off the noise cancelling for when coworkers come up to ask a quick question. I only need to charge them once every week and a half.

Good Headphones - curious on new model differences

It’s been a few months and no abnormal wear and battery life still seems good. They feel on the flimsier side of headphones but I think it was intentional. I have no concerns of them breaking. She uses an IPhone and has no issues using any of the feature.

I cannot hear anything when I am listening to music, even when on a mower or in a loud environment. Only issue that I have had is when it self switches between noise canceling and ambient, sometimes it gets confused by the wind if I am outside. But inside I have had 0 issues with that. Sound is very customizable as well. Seem very durable so far as well.
