Honestly I debated between these and the AirPod Maxes, and I’m glad I chose this one (my wallet is happy too lol). I’ve tried both on, and couldn’t see a difference in sound quality. Also these are great for traveling, if u don’t mind the bulk of the carrying case. It filters out loud engine noise and children screaming on flights, and lasts for 25+ hours, so I’d definitely recommend!!

XM5’s have good ANC and well rounded audio

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from Bose QC35ii, the XM5’s had equal or better active noise cancellation (ANC) and much better bass & low frequency audio - not overly bass heavy, but enough to realize the XM5’s sound great and the QC35ii’s really don’t have that much bass & low end. Sony utilizes photo mapping your ears with your smartphone to custom tune the sound and their “360 Reality Audio” seems to be their version of spatial audio to give a much wider soundstage. It works well. One item to consider is using an audio “digital-to-analog” converter (DAC). Doing so really helps the XM5’s reach their full potential, but they also do daily well by themselves, wireless or wired. Sony’s done a nice job with them. I recommend the XM5’s. Are they perfect? No. But at their regular price point, they do a good job. And if they’re on sale, better yet.

Great headphones to cancel outside noises!

I get really distracted with outside noise but the noise canceling on these are really awesome. The quality of the music is really nice. I feel like i’m in the studio w the artist listening to unreleased music. The battery life outlasts my phone, my airpod pros, and my ipad. Overall, for the price I think it’s really worth it and it’ll last for years due to the overall quality.

Initially I bought the Airpods Max as I have an iphone and also from the reviews. MKBHD called it "Luxury sound". It isn't for me. The bass of Airpods max is worse than Airpods pro. But these Sony XM5's are worth for a bang. They are made of plastic and is a good thing as it will be light on your head. The sound is crazy good. Its perfect in every sense

Their great for school, working out, and travel. I can't emphasize how great they are when going on runs, it feels like there's nothing on your head. Even after hours of wearing them I dont feel any discomfort. Would highly recommended 10/10

AirPod Max’s bite the curb.

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I personally traded in my AirPod Max’s for a pair of Sony XM5’s and honestly I would have never bought the Max’s if I wasn’t blinded by social media. Noise cancellation is a little less inferior compared to the Max’s but everything else makes up for it. I no longer get a random headache from wearing my headphones nor have deal with the bulkiness of the headphones when storing it in my bag. Though I was hesitant to leave the apple ecosystem I do not regret my decision. If you care about audio and customization then Sonys are the move. Take it from a broke college student that hates listening to people. Get the Sony’s.

It is these. They are comfortable. Feel like the color of them goes with everything. I enjoy the fact that I can choose to use noise cancelling with a button that turns them off and on. Highly recommend reading the quick tips. It taught me how to use the headphones in a way that I did not know before using them. You will not be disappointed!

They are also great if you get over stimulated easily because they block out noises. It also has a feature for you to turn off noise cancellation and hear if someone is talking to you. Lastly, they’re comfortable as well, the foam around the ears are really soft.

Extremely Comfortable Headphones

I never use overhead headphones since they get uncomfortable after awhile, but I use these at work and I can wear it for hours and not feel any discomfort at all. I also wore these on a 6 hour plane ride and the sound cancelling is the best I’ve experienced. If you are in the market for headphones, don’t think twice and get these.

Incredible Sound

They delivery impressive quality from the calls I make to the videos I watch, the overall noice cancelling is no joke when it comes to these. The battery life is also surprisingly very long. I can go up to a week without charging them. I’m very satisfied with them (had them for about 1 year now) and can’t see myself without them.

Best Headphones, some QoL features not needed.

Not the biggest fan of the assistant feature, though you can turn that off within the app as well as some of the other annoying stuff. The touchpad on the headphones (right side) is very sensitive so if you like to lay down with them on I would adjust settings to accommodate. Other than that though they are the best headphones I've had, my favorite feature being that I can connect to two devices at once.
