These headphones are comfortable to wear, but also fall off easily and the ear pads can get really hot. The settings are easy to set. Noise canceling is adequate, but not as strong as previous models. On rare occasion, there is a connectivity issue.

Light weight and great battery for noise canceling

Love that you can adjust all the little settings and such. Just wish they were a little louder, but that also could be because I'm always blasting my music, so I might have ear damage already. Really Good Headphones a Worthy Challenge to AirPo

The Sony is lighter and less bulky and has more bass I feel than the Airpods Max. I would say these are better for long flights than the Airpods max. They also have a custom EQ that you can set up. They also come with a cable to connect to a headphone jack on a plane. You have to buy that for $35 if you have Airpods max. Noise cancellation is excellent and I really like how you can just put your hand up to the headphone to stop that and have a quick conversation. You then just move your hand and you are back in business. They don't have the spatial audio like the AirPods Max and they don't have the cool factor of the AirPods Max. All in all really good headphones.

Exceptional Sound Quality and ANC

I really dig the modern, minimalist design of the XM5s. The Mark 5s feature exceptional sound quality, imaging, and an open sound stage, although I would give the edge to AirPods Max. With every major streaming service, with the notable exception of Spotify supporting Dolby, the lack of support for Dolby Atmos is a huge omission. As such, you'll have a far better experience watching movies and shows, that support Dolby, with AirPods Max. ANC on these is exceptional. One disappointment is transparency/ambient mode, which is just leagues better on AirPods Max. It's odd that Apple was able to create a magical pass through audio experience with their very first set of over the ear headphones. With decades of experience designing/manufacturing headphones, I expect better from Sony. Overall, these are well worth the price. Hopefully, the next iteration will include support for Dolby and feature a far better ambient mode.

I was between Apple AirMax and Sony XM5

My brother has the AirPod Max and yeah the sound good but not amazing, they are also heavy, and it’s weird that there is not off button. After a dive into people reviewing both headphones, the sony headphones are recommended if you are solely buying the headphones for sound quality, the apple if you don’t mind splurging more money and you only have apple products. I honestly love my headphones I have several piercings all around my ear and struggle with my ears hurting when having something against my ears but I don’t have that with these. If you find that the sound quality isn’t great in the beginning download the app and you can make adjustments. Only con is they don’t fold into themselves, they come with a nice case but it’s pretty big, but even then I don’t mind them.

Must have for work or travel and lightweight!

The battery is great and after 3 work days I then need to charge for about an hour, and it is back at 100%. I have flown twice and these blocked out so much noise except I could hear a kid screaming. When I took off the headphones then I actually heard how loud the child was. Great looking headset and my manager went and bought one, and walking around campus I get stopped all the time about them. This is solidly made and the only complaint is the talk-to-stop noise feature can get annoying so I suggest turning it off as it triggers even when eating lunch. I wear these over my Apple earpods.

Better Value than AirPods Max

The transparency mode does a good job at bringing in outside noise but doesn’t do a good job at making your own voice sound like you aren’t wearing anything. Definitely do not regret my choice. The noise cancellation is very good, letting me study in loud places. And the music sounds so good with them. If you’re thinking on getting this, make sure you get the protection too, this is my second pair, and I had to use my protection because my first one stopped connecting to my phone after a while.
