||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn’t in the market for new headphones, but after 3.5 years, my V-Moda Crossfade 2’s stopped producing sound in the left ear. I used it for gaming, work, music, movies, and at the gym. I used a V-Moda BoomPro mic with it as well for work and gaming. To replace it, I was looking for: -Closed-Back, Over-Ear headphones -3.5mm Jack to be able to use the BoomPro mic -Comfort and design -Sound quality -Durability would be a plus -ANC would be a plus I started my search by comparing the Bose QC45 and the Sony WH-1000XM4. I went to Best Buy to try them on and rest both pairs. The Bose QC45 has a 2.5mm jack, so I would’ve needed a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to use the BoomPro mic. I liked the XM4 design, but read online that others didn’t like the touch controls and would disable it. I wasn’t sold on either. Luckily, the XM5’s were released a few days ago, so I checked reviews and YouTube videos and was sold. I picked these up on 5/25/2022 and am glad I bought these headphones. In comparison to the V-Moda’s I replaced, they are: + More comfortable (Less pressure on head/ears) + Wireless: Better overall sound quality for music, podcasts, movies, and gaming + Wired: The BoomPro mic I use for work and PC/PS5 gaming works well with the XM5’s. No adapters needed. + Sound Quality. They sounded great out of the box, but I changed my EQ settings in the Headphones app to Excited and they sound even better for what I listen to and use it for. + ANC (The Crossfade 2 Wireless didn’t have this feature). I feel like I’ve been missing out this whole time and with the V-Mira’s, I had to increase the volume to drown out noise + No exposed wires (V-Moda’s are. I think this is what eventually caused the left wire to get loose, causing the left ear to not produce sound anymore) — Durability. The XM5’s feel more fragile. I’m hoping I never drop these on accident. The V-Moda’s are sturdier. I’ve dropped those several times throughout the time I owned them on hardwood flooring and concrete — Not foldable. I can deal with it, but this could be a dealbreaker for others — Materials (Specifically the leather padding). They look cheap and look shriveled up after some use. I feel that over time, these are going to crack. I hope I don’t have to deal with it, but I hope they’re replaceable. — No IP rating. I didn’t read too much into it, but the manual shows images to avoid wearing the headphones in the rain and if you’re sweating. If you’re getting these to use for the gym or running, get something else. Overall, I’m satisfied with the XM5’s. I hope I can get more years of use compared to the V-Moda’s to justify the cost of these.

The Built-In Microphones in Both the Earpiece is an Innovative Masterpiece. One Example is, I owned a Pair of XM2 (of the multiple I've owned) for a period of 3Yrs& 2Months. and worked as good ax the Day I bought them. I'm Wheelchair Bound with a Back Pack affixed to the Back of the 'Chair'. Had it Not been for them being STOLEN out of the Back Pack while I was on a Community Transit Bus I WOULD Still have Them. I had taken them off & put in Bk Pk for just a minute due to mechanical Wheel Chair Problem. When after getting off the BUS & Trying to get them, They WERE GONE. NOW, I CAN SAY I'm Glad because I was checking for Headphones again after checking the 4 TOP BRANDS Over and Over SONY WINS 'Hands Down' over ALL Others. SONY Wins in ALL My CK Points, Style, Head and Ear Comfortability, Personal Cosmetic Appearance Value, Multiple Options for Every Imaginable Listening AND Hearing Preferences with the Microphones in the Ear Piece is ABSOLUTE GENIUS. The Pleasantries and Functionality Abound in This Excellent Display of Space Age Technology. SO, This is a testimony to the Days and Hours along with the Miles I put in Testing and Trying Out THE TOP BRANDS and Comparing Them. All to Find the BEST Headphones I could Buy and AGAIN SONY WINS, ALL the Others could Not Even Compare. By far, these headphones are the best consumer grade headphones that I've used. If you're the type of listener that enjoys the "fun mix" (your typical V-shaped equalization), with an emphasis on bass/low end clarity and feel, look no further. Compared to the older XM3s, the noise cancellation seems to be a little weaker in blocking out the lower end rumbling noises like on planes or buses, but excels in blocking out a lot of the nastier, higher pitched/shrilled noises you might hear in your day to day. Loud construction? These will block that. Screeching car brakes? These will block that. Yelling kids? These will block that. Nagging significant other? These will block that, at your own risk. Lastly, the comfort of these things are unmatched. I have a fairly big head. Clamping with a head like mine usually leads to ear fatigue over time. These, along with some of Sony's higher end audiophile offerings, are the only headphones I can wear all day and not experience fatigue. This thing has gone through multiple 8+ hour sessions and have not fatigued me ever. If you're looking for a pair of premium headphones that does an amazing job at blocking out noise AND offering a superb listening experience, it just doesn't get better than this. Nothing else competes.

So after many reviews and youtube videos I was convinced to buy it, and believe me they werent wrong. These are one of the best noice cancelling headphones I have used, the noice canceliing, the sound quality, the customization, all the features, they are so much better than most of the headphones. My friends tried them and they liked it so much that all of them bought these headphones. Truly one of the best headphones. Talking about the battery life they last me around 2 days or 1 full day on continuous use with noise cancellation on full to 75% volume. They are also super comfy if you put them on correctly and adjust the band correctly. I use them for 7-8 hours minimum and they are still comfy.
