While we're happy that you are satisfied with the noise canceling feature and comfortability of our XM5, we're sorry to hear that you are having issues like the unit shuts off by itself while using it. This is not the news we want to hear. Please allow us to help. If the headphone shuts off in the middle of using it, you may not be wearing it properly.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can check:
- When you wear the headset over a cap, cloth, a scarf, hair, etc., wearing detection may not work properly. The automatic power off function may trigger and the headset may be turned off automatically. Wear the headset so that your ears are inside the earpads.
- When the automatic power off function is set to [Do not turn off] on the [System] tab of the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, wearing detection will continue to work and the symptom may be improved.
- Make sure the battery is fully charged.

If water or foreign matter enters the headset, this can result in burnout or malfunction. Avoid situations such as the following and be careful not to get moisture or dirt on the headset. To improve the Bluetooth performance between your headphones and your Mac, we recommend the following adjustments:

1- Update Firmware: Open the Sony | Sound Connect app on your mobile device and ensure your headphones are updated to the latest software version. These updates often include stability patches for desktop connectivity.

2- Prioritize Stable Connection: Within the Sound Connect app, go to the "Sound" tab and change the Bluetooth Connection Quality setting to "Priority on Stable Connection." This adjusts the bitrate to favor a consistent signal over high-resolution audio, which typically resolves the problem.

3- Manage iMac Resources: High CPU usage or multiple open applications on a Mac can sometimes interfere with Bluetooth processing. We recommend closing any unnecessary apps or browser tabs that you aren't currently using to free up system resources.

Hi Bubby, We're glad that you like the comfort and volume swipe of your headphones. You can enable/disable Speak-to-Chat feature using the Headphones Connect app. You can also change the sensitivity of the automatic audio detection, and change the time until the Speak-to-Chat mode ends. In the factory settings, the time until the mode ends is set to about 15 seconds.
