Great sound and comfort

I read and compared a lot of tech reviews between both, and even listened through both in person. I will say the noise canceling on this pair for the most part drowns out most of the noise but unless I put the volume up, I can still hear, the gym music. I might have to play with the Settings more I just haven’t. I would say my main gripe with this is if you’re at the gym and you’re laying down or on the bench the headphones do not stay you kind of have to angle it almost on top of your head so it stays on. but I love hearing the music through the headphones. It does sound a little bit better than the Bose but that could just be me. They are really comfortable. I have a lot of ear piercings so comfort level is really important to me.

Sony Headphones for working out!!

They are not waterproof however you can buy silicone covers on amazon! I wish they were a bit louder but they stay on the head and are very comfortable! I only have needed to charge it once!

I triethe new bose orior to buying these and took the Sonys instead due to their natural acurate sound. Bise are good too but these are a complete package. Sony's design team really deserve high praise for pulling of a timeless, simple, beautiful, elegant and understated design. This is hard to do. I cannot and will not buy anything else other than Sony, i am completely sold.

Great quality and worth the splurge!

I bought this for full price. This is rare, I usually only splurge if items are on sale but I needed a pair of quality headphones I could use while studying. The sound dampening is next level, it even beats the Apple Airpod Pros. The quality of the build is lightweight and feels expensive. I also appreciate how well the storage case is. It has a little magnetic compartment to store the cord when not in use. The battery life is phenomenal and will last you well over a week. One downside is that app is annoying and the ability to go from ambient to noise canceling is confusing.

Great sounding wireless headphones

The cushions are comfortable, even with my glasses on and for an extended period of time. I can tell that the cushions are going to break down sooner or later, so I’m already looking for replacements.

Great after 1+ years

Owned for 1 year when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don’t think these are water or sweat resistant but I constantly use these on heavy cardio and lifting days The noise canceling struggles when I drive a truck with no cats. But I can’t mark points for this because it’s great when I’m walking in public areas. Sound is amazing but I am not an audiophile. Batter can last me a whole week on a single charge. On average I use them 6 days a week usually 3 hours with no adaptive sound or noise canceling, and 3 hours with noise canceling. My school is far so I use them on my drive and at the gym.

Great headset

I would recommend getting silicone ear covers for these since they aren’t water resistant apparently so getting to be safe is a good idea. I’ve worn them at the gym without the covers and had no problems but I typically put them on to keep them safe

They had great audio quality, battery life, solid software, and features. Now I come to the reason for my one-star rating, and this is the part you should be aware of before purchasing this product. I came home one day and went to put on my headphones, and realized that the left hinge had almost completely snapped off. The product was never dropped, damaged, or misused in any way, and yet the hinge broke. I checked if other users have had this issue and was surprised to find that this was a known issue with the XM5s. I contacted Sony support and spoke to both their customer service and customer relations teams. Still, they said Sony would not cover this issue because it is physical damage, and offered a "low-cost" repair for $100. This directly conflicts with Sony's policy, which should cover "defects in materials or workmanship under normal use". I am extremely disappointed in the resolution to this issue because the product itself is great, but for a known issue resulting from inadequate manufacturing, to receive neither a proper recall nor a replacement/repair initiative is unacceptable. I am now stuck between either paying an extra $100 and spending multiple weeks to get the product repaired, essentially making the headphones cost $450, or selling them at a significantly reduced rate and eating up the cost of buying new headphones after 2 years. This defect and the resolution by Sony have been so dissatisfactory that I will likely never purchase a Sony product again. TL;DR: Sony headphones' hinge broke under normal use due to a known manufacturing defect. Sony's customer service denied any under-warranty repair/replacement option, citing physical damage in contrast to their policy. Offered me a long wait, $100 repair option. If you choose to buy the XM line of headphones, be aware that there are known product issues that likely won't get resolved even under warranty, and you should probably look to Sennheiser and Bose for better product/company satisfaction.

Being I used to be in band. The noise cancellation really works wonders. The headphone cushion are comfortable fitted to your ear and stable. When you first buy them the headphone fit a little tight but will get loose after awhile. Please avoid any steam or water because it will get damaged. I avoid any hard rain fall because they will get damaged. I try to keep it out the shower because they will get mess up. Overall I use these more than my beats. Also the sound quality is top tier.

Great sound! No go as a workout headset...

They are comfortable, and I enjoy how they can recreate a surround sound, fully immersive experience within a headphone. They are exactly as advertised. The reason for 4, rather than 5, stars is that this headphone has no resistance to water, working out, high humidity, etc. I have a set of JVC earbuds worth $50 that have an IP-54 water resistance rating. Yet, Sony is unable to build any resistance into a set of professional quality headphones you can safely work out in? If not for the high sound quality and comfortable build of the unit, it would have cast you 2 stars
