It doesn't seem like the battery life last 30 hrs. I feel like the battery drains faster even when i used the nose canceling than compared to other models.. for the price i probably would not but again, because i don't think they are really all that. . I would get the either the 770 model or even the new 710 and of course x4.

Ambient Sound Mode
If you run the above settings at the same time, the available operating time of the battery becomes even shorter.
If the headset is not used for a long time, the rechargeable battery usage hours may be reduced. However, the battery life will improve after charging and discharging several times. If you store the headset for a long time, charge the battery once every 6 months to avoid over-discharge.
It is recommended to charge in a place with an ambient temperature between 15 °C and 35 °C (59 °F - 95 °F). Efficient charging may not be possible beyond this range. If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Headband From Hell !

My 23 yr old daughter got hurt too. The sound and controls are amazing, but they need to correct the headband. Got the Bose 700 instead, no problem and beautiful sound and ANC too ( you can use the headphones without ANC unlike others) .

To get a more comfortable fit for the WH-1000XM5, you can adjust the slider to a length where the headband touches the top of your head. You can also adjust the orientation of the left and right units so that the earpads fit snugly all around your ears.

They switch between my phone and laptop easily. I love the side swipe control. I need to shift them every 45-60m or else my head hurts in that spot but honesty it’s not terrible and I’d buy them again no question.

Decent ANC and Audio; Terrible Headband

It can be quite weak in terms of bass which can be EQ'd. My chief complaint with this headphone is its terrible headband. It applies a constant weight on top of my head that inevitably causes a headache a mere hour into a simple listening session or outdoor walk. The XM4's headband was just fine yet it has been altered into this mess.

Thank you for telling us about your experience with your WH-1000XM5. We appreciate your feedback regarding the breathability of the unit. Because the headphones achieve a tightly-sealed over the ears, this may tend to restrict airflow, trap heat, and cause the ears to get hot and sweaty, especially when worn during the warmer days of the year. Unfortunately, the headphones are not waterproof. Please be careful when using the unit in the rain or snow, in humid locations or when using the unit while you are sweaty. If sweat or condensation accumulates on the WH-1000XM5 sensor, this may not work flawlessly. At that point, it's good to air out and clean your headphones.

Comfortable w/Stellar Sound

The packaging is a little bulky, but once you get inside you realize they made the box to overprotect the contents. The carry case is just the right size to protect, but not take up a ton of space. The headphones come with usb-c power connectors (thank you!), a 3.5mm audio cable, and a tiny packet of gov't docs and an offer for a trial of a 360 app. Side note: That 360 audio is pretty amazing, but I don't want to be forced to pay for yet another audio streaming service. So no thanks. Let's just integrate this functionality into services that people actually use. (YouTube Music, Spotify, iTunes) The headphones are nice and light, very comfortable to wear for a long period of time. They lack a lot of oversized plastic that tends to make other headphones heavier. The padding is just right to maintain comfort but not be too hot to wear. The ear cups fit really well, and adjusting the size is really quite easy compared to some other headphones I've used before. They claim they will operate for 30 hours on a charge. I've been using them for 3 hours and sitting at 94% left. Considering that level of charge capacity, they don't feel at all heavy from bulky batteries. They're using some really good quality batteries in these cans. The app is crazy how many features are packed into it. It's a technophiles dream as there are all sorts of geeky features like taking pictures of your ears for adjustments. Or recognizing when you're walking vs sitting or driving and adjusting the sound based on situations. I've been playing with all the features in the app, and to be honest I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do. But to be real....you're probably not going to use most of that stuff. But it's there if you feel the need. The audio quality is really good, if not great! I feel like the highs and mids are pretty close to perfect. The lows....mmmmm....they're close but not perfect yet. It's really strange, and I think it has to do a lot with the source. For instance, listening to Red Hot Chili Peppers: sound great! Listening to Slightly Stoopid: sounds muddy Listening to Dre: sounds good, but you can hear just that bit of cloudy lows in between the beats. Compared to any other set of headphones though...They're really fantastic for a wireless pair of headphones. I feel the need to wire them direct to a CD player just to see what they really can do compared to this wireless compressed audio. Side note: I might be tempted to start using these on my gaming PC. The sounds is great and the noise-canceling would be sweet. The noise-canceling: Well that's just fantastic! I've got an older pair of Bose Quiet Comforts that I used on airplanes, and the noise-canceling on these just slays those. When you put these cans on the basic insulation of the cups is enough to really dampen everything as if you stepped into a sound room. But then you turn them on and everything goes perfectly dead silent. Nice job Sony! Not sure what else to say. They sound great, they feel comfortable, and they silence the noise. I would totally recommend these to friends.

Overpriced | Terrible Headphones

Sony managed to create the worst possible headphones on the market. They constantly drop in the middle of meetings and calls. The most recent issue is not charging correctly. Yesterday, I was not able to charge them all day. I would recommend getting something different. Because these headphones are not worth the price.

Broken after 1.5 years

I’m very disappointed in the quality and durability for the price I paid. My Bose headphones lasted for well over 8 years with the same regular wear, but I thought I would try something new since I liked Sony’s technology and they seemed to be on par with the sound quality of Bose, my mistake. Would not buy these again. 6 months out of warranty, and I’m out $400 and another piece of technology is headed to the trash. Don’t get these, go with Bose.

Louder music or gameplay made the audio crackle on them and the built in mic was a joke, my friends said I sounded like I was trapped in a tin can. Returned them and got a pair of Logitech for $200 cheaper. They refused to connect to my bluetooth as well without an adapter. They did block noise so I guess they weren't wrong about that.
