Also, this is good for the gym because it stays on your head and it’s just on any type of head size.

Not sure it's worth the upgrade, but still good

I bought the XM4 and really like them, so took the plunge for the upgrade. I'm not sure I see a big difference in the new one, but it still sounds great. Maybe a little lighter than the XM4. If you like top-notch headphones, these will definitelu fit the bill.

Worth the wait, money and the hype! Get these!

I've had, and consequently compared these Headphones to the Bowers and Wilkins PX7's, the older Sony 1000MX3's and Jabra Elite 85t's and the Sony's Noice Cancelling is superfluous. No question. The deep bass, the rich treble/highs makes listening to everything from 2Pac to Enya, to Nelly a choice experience. The phone/bluetooth quality is outstanding. I refuse to take a call on any other headset that I own than these Sony WH-1000MX5's!!

Good, But Falls Short of Expectations

Despite tweaking bass and range settings, outside sounds still leak through in open environments — even with ANC toggled on in the app. I’ve accepted that this may just be their limit. Connectivity has also been hit or miss, with random Bluetooth dropouts that no amount of troubleshooting (on both phone and computer) seems to fix. Battery life is decent but not impressive for the price. Overall, I expected more. My next purchase will likely be the Apple AirPods Max — I’ve met too many people who rave about their truly phenomenal noise cancellation.

Skip Sony - go for Bose

They were originally purchased to replace my older Bose headphones, which has a weak battery. But all I hear is the noise around me, and it won't sit well on my head. I had high expectations for the Sonys, but the noise cancellation feature is far from spectacular - especially at this price point. It's also a pain to connect with Bluetooth and takes more time to charge. Back to the Bose. I've learned my lesson. Never again.

The issue of hearing excessive noise during calls is common when conferencing apps force the headphones into a lower-quality Bluetooth mode (HFP); we recommend manually checking your PC's sound settings to ensure the "Headset (WH-1000XM5 Hands-Free)" profile is selected before joining a call. Regarding the fit, ensure you gently adjust the headband sliders so the earcups achieve a complete seal around your ears, as this is crucial for optimal noise cancellation performance.

Great sound quality and comfort

I wish they made cooking earpieces for them on release, that’s the only thing I would change. I use these to study in order to focus, and they’re comfortable enough to walk with outside as well. So far the connectivity seems pretty seamless.

Great Product

An example of this would be the speech detection, I woul talk and audio would cut off, so overall you could talk and listen at the same time. Unless of course you changed it in the app. Nonetheless its a great product, amazing audio and are comfortable around the ear!

The ANC is superb and is a great addition to these both wired and wireless to your preferences as they last for about 35 hours wirelessly and connection is seamless and simple. Definitely recommend after the use of my AT-M50X for thousands of hours.

Good Headphones - curious on new model differences

It’s been a few months and no abnormal wear and battery life still seems good. They feel on the flimsier side of headphones but I think it was intentional. I have no concerns of them breaking. She uses an IPhone and has no issues using any of the feature.

Perfect for Long Haul Flights

Wore these on an 8+ hour flight on one charge. Love that they come with an aux cord for in-flight entertainment and the noise cancelling was perfect. Also was able to wear a travel pillow and sleep with them on pretty easily.

Solid headphones but some improvements needed

The noise canceling function works well and I was looking for a set that were multipoint - able to connect more than one device - so that I can respond to my phone while working on my laptop. The reason for the 4/5 stars is because I am forced to download an app to do the multiple connections and connectivity isn’t always consistent resulting in a somewhat glitchy sound connection on MS Teams. This doesn’t happen often but for the price we shouldn’t have to deal with this.
