They block out so much and helps me concentrate when I’m listening to online lectures. When I listen to my music in my free time, I can jam out with the base and be in my own world.

The cusp on the ears don’t suction to my ears at all, they’re a very lightweight pair of headphones. Some may like that but I personally didn’t like how it made the overall quality of the headphone feel. With the sound, I like how you can tune your own audio settings and really personalize your music. As for the noise cancellation, it’s not the best but it’s not the worst. I can still hear myself talking slightly when the volume is all the way up and I don’t like that. I want to be able to zero in and focus with no outer distractions. For the price these headphones did not impress me, I returned these. If you’re gonna spend over $300 on a pair of headphones, I opted for the apple air max headphones.

The transparency and noise cancelling work great. Battery life is great. The padding around the ear is comfortable. I can connect it to 2 devices and it automatically switches between them

Amazing headphones, great alternantive to the XM6

Only part I dont like is the power button, its too stiff and feels cheap.

It has great noise canceling feature. I think that Bose does a good job in that aspect, i jut don't think you should completely not hear the outside noise for safety reasons. So with that Sony does it just right with noise canceling.

That's great you find the WH-1000XM5 comfortable! We understand the preference for the fully foldable design of previous models, especially for frequent travelers.
The new, streamlined XM5 design was developed to achieve a sleeker look and enhance the overall noise cancellation performance by maximizing the space for internal components, like the new processor and microphones. While they no longer fold inward, they still collapse flat into a thin carrying case, which was redesigned to be more durable and feature a magnetic flap for accessories.

Noise canceling is incredible on these and i actually use the passthrough ambient mode several times a day

Audio just as good as before. The ability to detect when you remove them is game changing! Seems to have better range as well.

A much better option from the AirPods Max IMO

AirPods work great for business calls and mobility, AirPod Pros are fantastic for audiophiles, noise cancellation. AirPod Max is where it changes for me - the sound is very tinny and artificially boosted. This, combined with the silly case needed for on/off function, the weight and less battery life had me looking elsewhere for a proper over-the-ear headphone. Enter the WH-1000XM5. The Sony App allows for endless customization of sound which lets me tailor my audio experience for the sound I am looking for. This makes me feel better about my experience and the sound is more accurate. Some of the "smart" gps options for sound and noise cancellation are gimmicky and I don't bother with them. Just a tip - the black has a very smooth black finish that shows greasy fingers. I exchanged them for this silver which has a grittier matte finish and doesn't show fingerprints.

Good quality of materials. I like more my B&W PX7 S2, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this one. Because I am wasn't fun of Sony - WH-1000XM4 and Sony - WH-1000XM3.
