A little disappointed

Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m not sure if the pair I purchased are faulty but the Noise Cancellation isn’t good enough. I tried them in the store before I purchased them (during a very noisy Black Friday) and they were perfect, I couldn’t hear anything but the music. But the pair I have don’t cancel background noises that well. I might have to return them for a different pair. Overall great sound quality and very comfortable, but if I’m buying “Noise Canceling” headphones for $300 I’d want them to work as advertised.

The WH-1000XM5 headphones have 2 processors that control 8 microphones for unprecedented noise cancellation and exceptional call quality. If the effect of noise canceling is not sufficient, please try the following:
Make sure the noise canceling function is turned on.
Adjust the headset into a comfortable position.
The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.

Great but could use some work

Other than than great headphones. On the other hand battery life is amazing. I can last weeks without charging these and i use them at the gym every day.

Great for everything but working out!

They slip off my head constantly & when I’m moving my arms with weights the headphones think I’m trying to change the song, etc. so the music is constantly being interrupted. The music sounds great though & the noise canceling option works extremely well! Great for studying but not for working out!

We're glad you love the exceptional sound quality and excellent noise cancellation of your headphones. Having read your review regarding the fit and waterproof performance, these headphones have great cushioning and adjustability. This will help the headphones stay on your head while working out. These will work great for you while working out “Non-Hardcore”. That being said, these headphones are not specifically designed for sports activities as the unit is not sweat resistant. If the proximity sensor part inside the left unit housing gets fogged up or there are water droplets on it due to condensation or humidity from sweat, etc., wearing detection may not work properly. We recommend you practice caution when working out with these headphones so they don’t fall or become damaged during your exercise. Thanks for choosing Sony! -Jess

Adding music to the mix and I can relax, unwind, and not worry about getting too overstimulated. Excellent for those who can get easily overstimulated with excessive/complex/loud noises.

Great build quality
