Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
Ensure that the headphones software is updated as it includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.
Set the headset to “Priority on stable connection”.
Remove any obstacles between the iPhone and headphones.
If you are enjoying music with your smartphone, the situation may be improved by closing unnecessary apps or restarting your smartphone. If you are enjoying music with your computer, close unnecessary applications or windows and restart the computer.
Connect the headset and the Bluetooth device once again.
Turning off [Service Link] on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app may reduce the amount of audio dropout.
Reset the headset.
Initialize the headset, and pair the headset and the device again.

Adding music to the mix and I can relax, unwind, and not worry about getting too overstimulated. Excellent for those who can get easily overstimulated with excessive/complex/loud noises.

They have amazing sound quality its like being in the middle of the movie, vidoe, or song you are playing. When playing a movie you can hear the ancillary background conversations on the movie. I kept thinking someone was in the room with me! The noise canceling feature is top notch, i recently took a 4 hour flight abd had a screaming baby about 4 rows behind me. I poped on my headphones, started a movie and voila no more screaming baby!! Worth every penny for me.

The noise cancelling is not good. I had the WH-1000xm3 for several years and "upgraded" to these. The noise cancelling doesn't work in many situations. The settings also revert often when switching between devices. The design is also less portable and the case is larger. I am really disappointed in this headset. I would rather use my old headset with the battery that doesn't last - at least it works to block out noise.

Ready to 1k+ hrs

I had over 1000 hrs on my mx4 before the phyically broke. I look forward to just as much usage with these new ones. Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the WH-1000XM5. If you find the audio levels too low, we recommend ensuring that the volume is turned up to the maximum on both your connected device and the headphones themselves. You can increase the internal volume of the headphones independently by swiping up and holding your finger on the right ear cup touch sensor until you hear a beep indicating it has reached the limit.
We also suggest making sure the Noise Canceling feature is fully activated while listening. By blocking out external ambient sounds, Noise Canceling allows the audio from your headphones to come through much louder and clearer without the need to significantly increase the volume levels. You can toggle this feature easily using the NC/AMB button on the left ear cup or through the Sony Sound Connect app.

Excellent noise cancellation and better mic vs XM4

I use these to sleep at night because of extremely noisey neighbors upstairs. I've regained my sanity! Also, the mic when speaking to someone over the phone really isolates your voice and they do not hear background noise. While walking outside, I had a conversation and the person on the other end could not hear the dogs barking (loudly) in the background. Definite improvement from the XM4 headphones. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is that they do not fold.
