Good But Not Great

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I felt an obligation to write a review of these headphones after sweating with them about 30-40 minutes. These Sony headphones were purchased as a replacement for the Airpods Max. I trust Sony headphones enough to try these, they borrow some of the features of the Airpods Max. The headphones borrow the tight fitting overhead noise cancellation fit of the aforementioned headphones. They’re snug, but unlike the Apple they make you perspire. They are sweaty after 30-40 minutes. The Apple never produces that in three years of ownership. The sound is good, what you would expect from Sony. The headphones similarly produce spatial sound like the Max. It’s necessary to download an app to make them work, which was okay on my personal phone, but when I tried to use them on my work phone it didn’t pair. I would rate these headphones 3 out of 5 stars, overall good affordable Sony product.

Bluetooth pairing button flimsy. If it works well why downgrade? Was it a cost thing? because its still very expensive. Im tempted to get the earlier model for the convenience.

Sound great, haptics are a little annoying

Sacrifice a little comfort for size, so it’s fine. The haptics are a bit annoying, great concept but irritating when you adjust them and the sound stops. App could use some work from UI perspective. These aren’t the type of headphones you would go running with, so not sure about why so much emphasis is put on activity. However, tap to turn off noise canceling and stop when you take them off is great!

It's great that you can connect with two devices at once via bluetooth, though this operation feels less than polished at least when moving between MS teams on a laptop, and your phone. I like that you dont need a separate mike b/c the sensitivity on this mike is superb and people can hear you even with an A/C activated in the same room. The 30 hour battery life and fast charging means it will outlast you on an given day. I would recommend.

The noise cancelling is great, and I love that I’m able to connect to 2 devices via Bluetooth simultaneously. Not the best for workouts, they tend to slide off my head but it’s manageable.

Blue Tooth Issues

My issues with these headphones is the blue tooth constantly disconnects. Also, the noise canceling quality is not very good.

We understand how important both of these features are, and we'd like to share some tips that may help.
For Bluetooth connectivity:
- Please ensure your headphones are updated to the latest firmware using the Sony Headphones Connect App.
- In the app, you can also set the set the headset to “Priority on stable connection”, which can reduce the audio/Bluetooth dropouts.
- Try to avoid using the headphones in areas with heavy wireless interference, such as near microwave ovens, crowded trains, or when surrounded by multiple wireless communication audio devices.
For noise cancelling performance:
- Make sure the headphones are properly fitted and fully sealed over your ears—this makes a big difference in blocking outside sound.
- In the Sony Headphones Connect App, use the "Auto NC Optimizer" feature, which adjusts performance based on your environment and personal fit.
- Double-check that Adaptive Sound Control isn't automatically lowering noise cancelling in certain situations; you can manually set it to "Noise Canceling" using the app for maximum effect.
