Great earphones. No noisecgets throughbthese things.

These are by far some of the cheapest feeling headphones I've ever owned. If the $400 price tag is worth only the good ANC and decent sound balance, then yes these are pretty good headphones. However, the build quality and the constant issues with the Bluetooth and software make these headphones some of the worst I've ever owned. I find myself continuously having to go back to my $100(now $60) JBL 660 NC headphones for so many use cases. The only benefit I have found with the XM5 headphones over the JBL is the microphone that is very decent at cutting out background talking. The ANC is impressive but most headphones have ANC and they all work pretty well within margin of each other. You should not wear these headphones to do any slight physical activity in as they are incredibly thermally insulated and are very susceptible to sweat and water damage as acknowledged by Sony themselves when they put a warning label in the box telling you to NOT SWEAT ON THEIR HEADPHONES, or they will be damaged. Appalling in this day and age. If you want to replace the horribly uncomfortable and hot ear pads, you will lose any edge of the decent ANC. The battery on these XM5 headphones is about half the performance of my JBL headphones. The headband is much more uncomfortable than any headset I've used. The padding is minimal and the band is made very narrow as a rounded tube making the pressure points very concentrated along the top of the head, very poor design choice. Most headphone bands are flat and wide to avoid these issues. I have to constantly use the app to switch back and forth from quality mode to stability mode for several different apps that will not play sound of on one mode or the other. This is a completely new issue I've never had on any headphones prior. There is a slew of issues with the useability of the app that I'm frankly uninterested in laying out here. All in all Sony apparently believes that it's decent out of the box equalizer settings and ANC is worth the abject torture it is to use these headphones that are somehow cutting edge and 30 years old in design. Pick a different headphone if you're in the market.

They are very good, you don't hear noise around you

I upgraded from the Sony 1000X M3 and I’m really happy with it so far. Music sounds great and the headphones are still comfortable after two hours of consecutive use.

I really want to like these headphones but there are some major issues that cannot be looked past. I primarily use these for work as I work alone around woodworking machinery all day. I previously had the Bose quitecomfort 35s for 6yrs and loved them but when they eventually wore out, research led me to try these out. Needless to say, due to the machinery the noise cancelling abilities were my primary concern The good: The sound quality is great, they are very comfortable for extended wear, the app is easy to use and control the headphones The irritating: The noise cancelling ability unfortunately did not meet that of the Bose quitecomfort 35s, don't get me wron it works pretty good, but just not as good which was disappointing. The "auto" features are an absolute annoyance and Inded up turning it off. It would detect I wasn't wearing the headphones even when I was. Constantly having to go back to my phone while I'm working to connect them again. The hand swipe features are cool but they are so sensitive that additionally while I worked it was constantly changing the volume or song when I never intended to. Like it reacts to ANYTHING touching them, not just your hands. The strech strap from my respirator would activate it. The BAD: Not sure if they purposley made the headphones not work right for samsung but, it a huge thing for me. I often work 12-15 hrs a day, take care of the kids and normally am not able to have any time to myself or watch a show until around 10 p.m. obviously, I use the headphones as to not wake anyone in the house up. Unfortunately, for whatever reason the headphones do not time up with the tv and play the sound in an insane reverb/crazy feedback. Its hard to explain but it sounds like its using the sound from the tv to communicate in morse code. I have up to date smart TV and have NEVER had an issue with ANY of my other bluetooth headphones on all of our TVs, and wouldn't you know it. The headphones do it on ALL 3 of our samsung TVs. So, to me to make a product that isnt compatible with the most popular brand of electronics is a HUGE foul. Overall, they sound great when they're working properly and the auto features arent doing whatever. To me they are VERY MEH. Ill have to just go back to the Bose 35s, theyre better than their newest models as well.

Good I really like the noise cancelling and sound nice

Excellent sound quality. Strong noise canceling performance. Battery life is as advertised. There is really nothing bad to say about these headphones.

These headphones are reaaly great at blocking out sound and allowing sound through, whichever is need depending on the situation. They are also very comfortable and have great sound quality.

Bought these as an upgrade from my Beats Solos. Love the sound quality. The noise canceling works great for me and I love there’s an ambient sound mode for when I need to pay attention to my surroundings. The headphones also have an app for complete customization and even includes customizing sound based on the way you wear them. Definitely recommend. My only very slight con is that they are sensitive to certain sounds and movements and I need to take a look at how to turn off the chimes because I prefer uninterrupted listening. Other than that, a great purchase.

My wife suffers from extreme over stimulation from sounds. THIS PRODUCT HAS CHANGED HER WHOLE WORK DAY, in the best way possible! If she has these on and I come home from work, she has no clue I am home. I can bang doors/drawers and she isn't bothered. I tried these on and it basically shut out the world. WOULD RECOMMEND HIGHLY!!!!!

I really enjoy the noise cancelling feature when travelling, also, it's comfortable for me, as cover all over the ear, easy sync with my mobile device.

They’re really great and help block out the noise around

This was my Christmas present this year and prior to that I had read all the reviews. I watched multiple YouTube reviews and was convinced this was the pair of headphones I wanted. Oh my goodness! These Sony XM 5’s are replacing a five year set of Bose. I didn’t think it would be possible to say an upgrade over Bose would be this dramatic, but it is! The noise canceling is excellent, and when you download the app and use the 360 Reality Audio, the sound is truly amazing! If you’re in the market, stop into Best Buy and give these a listen. I highly recommend these headphones.

They sound incredible, recommended, I loved the color and they are very comfortable

Compared to BOSE 700, Sony GH-4 Comfortable for hours of wearing, sound quality is good but too flat, noice cancelling is great. Built quality is good as well. A few times had an issues with connection and n/c, was resolved by turning off/on the headphones.
