Headphones hurts your ears

These headphones design hurts my ears only after an hour of wearing them. The sound these put out sound hollow and artificial. If you're an average user and haven't tried cans Like Grado or Sennheiser......then you obviously have no idea what I'm even talking about when I talk about good sounding cans. I returned these the next day. I do have to say though that #1. Call quality is top notch & Sound cancellation is excellent........but doesn't meaning nothing to me if the music part is not up to par. For $400......these cans are WAYYYYYYY OVERPRICED for the average sound quality.

While we are glad you like call quality and noise cancellation of the WH1000XM5, we regret to hear that unit had to returned due to sound quality and discomforts issues. Sound also depends on the music you are playing and audio device connected. However, this may be improved by adjusting the setting on the Sony headphone| Connect app according to your preference for best sound experience. For discomfort issues, adjusting them for a personalized fit is easy with a stepless slider, seamless swivel and hanger, and silent joints, makes WH-1000XM5 a pleasure to wear. These headphones stopped connecting to my phone 6 months into owning them. They would disconnect and reconnect often. But now almost a year later, these won’t connect to anything. I’ve tried my laptop, friends’ phones, my pc etc. I have reset them continuously but nothing works. If they had no bluetooth issues these headphones would be 10/10.

We also appreciate trying to troubleshoot the problem and performing a reset. In addition, we also recommend ensuring that the latest firmware is installed with version 2.1.0. Kindly launch the Headphones Connect App to check and verify the firmware.
If the headset does not operate correctly even after resetting, initialize the headset. To initialize,
Turn off the headset.
Press and hold button and the NC/AMB button for about 7 seconds.
When the initializing is complete, the indicator (blue) flashes 4 times .

So much is said about the XM5 being improved over the XM4. In my opinion it is not. ANC is great but sound feels “smaller” and lacks depth compared to the XM4. Fit was awkward on my head; all day comfort with no need to adjust often with the XM4. Purchased twice, first almost immediately upon release and again in Jan 24, wanting to try again & see if I was mistaken. Returned both purchases within 72 hours. XM4 & Bose QC Ultra are better picks for this price range.

They probably are for most people. But for me, I wanted ones that sound incredible. These don't sound incredible. The bass is muddy and there is not as much detail as I would like, as in the Sennheiser Momentum 3 and 4. All the other functions such as ANC, transparency, controls, comfort are great. If you are not very discerning or picky about audio quality, then go ahead and get these. But why would you pay this much if you don't care about audio quality? Get the Momentum 4 would be my recommendation.

There is good news however! By downloading the Headphones Connect app, you can customize the settings to suit your preferences. It also has an Equalizer that you can select and customize to fine-tune your music.

If the effect of noise canceling is not sufficient, please try the following:
Make sure the noise canceling function is turned on.
Adjust the headset into a comfortable position.
The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
When the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app is turned on, the wearer's actions, like walking or running, are detected. The noise canceling function is automatically adjusted and the Ambient Sound Mode may be activated according to these actions.
To make the most of the noise canceling function, turn off the Adaptive Sound Control, and try to turn on the noise canceling function manually when you need it.
With the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, check the setting of [Ambient Sound Control]. If it is set to [Ambient Sound], the effect of noise canceling is reduced. Set it to the noise canceling mode.
Check with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app whether the function of the NC/AMB button is set to [Ambient Sound Control].
Because the noise canceling performance is automatically optimized by the Auto NC Optimizer function according to changes in the wearing condition and usage environment, you may notice fluctuations in the noise canceling effect.

The music is really good for blue tooth. The signal is solid. I’m new to noise canceling, so it’s amazing for me to have the lawn mower fade into Bolivia ( ok,oblivion),and these cans do a phenomenal job at reducing ambient noise. I love these headphones. I tried the Apple, but it was a tad too heavy, so I replaced them with this Sony. Convenient swipes control music selection and volume without having to handle the iPod touch that I’m using with Apple Music.
