These headphones are excellent - the buttonless control took a bit to get used to, but once I did, it was very smooth to control everything with just a touch. Battery life is also very good! Definitely would recommend!

Battery lasts a long time as well, and I’ve been using them pretty much all day long for the past month and a half.

Yes to noise cancellation, no to disconnection

If I cough, it disconnects, if I turn my head, it disconnects, even when I’m sitting still doing absolutely nothing, it finds a way to disconnect. I don’t know if I got a defective device since the reviews for this product is amazing, so I have no clue. It is somewhat disappointing. The app is up to date, and this was a gift back in March, so even if I wanted to return it and get a new pair, it probably wouldn’t work. I have AirPods but those always fall out, and when working out, I wanted something noise canceling that will stay in place. Well I got that, but I have to deal with disconnections all the time.

Thank you you for your time writing this review. While we are glad you like the noise cancellation and comfortable fit of the WH1000XM5 headphones, we're sorry to hear some issues that you are encountering with the unit. Let's work together and troubleshoot the problem.
Please make sure to wear the headset properly. In order to prevent the headset from reacting incorrectly, stop music playback, making and receiving calls, and other operations cannot be performed when the headset is removed, even if you tap the touch sensor control panel. Also, if you put on the headset without adjusting the slider, the headset may not be positioned properly on your head, resulting the wearing detection function to not work properly and cause music playback to stop automatically or activate the automatic power off function (the battery saving function) to automatically turn off the headset. By using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you can change the settings of the wearing detection automatic music playback pause and resume function and the wearing detection automatic power off function (the battery saving function).

Was nice to have noise cancellation, music/movie sounds was crisp. Comfortable on ears/head the whole time. Just had to get use to remembering functions to turn up volume or skip songs, pretty easy to figure out. Paid for expedited shipping but it arrived 2 days late. Good thing not was before the trip!

Audio and noise cancellation also superior. Audio equalizer presets and two custom. Speak to pass through very handy. Forever battery. Only gripe is skin oils are VERY noticeable on surfaces. No moisture or wet protection. Amazing Tech worth it when on sale

Good but Not great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.So i tried both XM4 and XM5 and I personally liked the xm4 better. music just hit more with the xm4. the xm5 for some reason weren’t loud enough the bass was not there and was a little disappointed when i got the xm5. Yes the noise canceling its better but thats about it. I would recommend the XM4 over these . Even with the EQ on the sony app it still didnt make music sound as good as the xm4. And one more thing withthe xm5 my ears would get hot and sweaty in about ten minutes of having them on. With the xm4 i dont get none of that at all even after a couple hours of use and i have pretty big ears. Would definitely recommend xm4 over these way more comfortable sound better and a little cheaper. Thought the xm5 would be an upgrade version of these for being more expensive but that wasnt the case . I stuck the the xm4.

To ensure an optimal listening experience, downloading the Sony Headphones Connect app lets you adjust your bass levels and gives you sound quality presets. There is even an EQ in there—which can be customized to fine-tune your music to your liking. You can edit the volume of the CLEAR BASS. Increasing the CLEAR BASS setting value allows your headphones to reproduce dynamic deep bass without distortion, even at a high volume.

Compared to AirPods Max, I prefer airpods
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Not gonna lie after substantial use of the AirPods Max I got used to its seamless connection to all the Apple devices. And the feel of these made me almost return them the day I opened it. It honestly felt like some really cheap headphones because of the weight and feel of the plastic. The AirPods Max feel more premium because of the aluminum body, but after giving them a shot with the Sony headphones app, these are very costomizable. To be completely fair the AirPods Max and these Sony headphones have their own pros and cons but overall I really think I do enjoy the AirPods Max better. Don’t get me wrong the sound quality and costimizations are great on these Sony Headphones but again, I really do think I prefer the AirPods Max over these.

Comfortable and lightweight

Most headphones I can’t wear for more than a hour without a headache so that was the selling point. Sound seems very good, but I haven’t really compared with others. My only complaint is that the Sony app has some scary terms and conditions that make it sound like I’m signing away the rights to everything I listen to, which is just not ok in my book. I ended up not installing their app which I think means I’m missing out on some of the noise cancellation features which really sucks. I wish places still made technology that works on its own without additional requirements.
