I was gifted these headphones and initially thought to return due to the price. We went to Best Buy looked at others, spoke to staff and I decided to keep and try them. I'm so glad I did, I wouldn't trade them for anything now.

They’re fine for what they are.

Nothing amazing, the features are more gimmicky than useful. For the app to work properly for active noise cancelling it has to track you which is fine but uses data. None of the Spatial Audio works if you don’t spend the money on the specific apps that support it which cost money. Overall if you’re in the Apple eco-system, get the Air Pod Maxs. They sound better and the noise cancelling is way better. If you want the Sonys get the MX4’s the bass is better.

Owned for 7 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The overall sound quality and comfort while wearing the headphones is great, however in good faith I could never recommend anyone spending the premium price tag these headphones carry as the build quality is terrible (all the hinges are thin plastic). The build quality would not be as big of an issue if Sonys warranty covered this very common issue but they refuse and charge a premium to fix it.

I was thinking buying a sound bar but now I don't need one at all. Highly recommend this product. Battery life is amazing. Lasted me all long flight to Europe with 4 hours overlay.

The noise cancellation seemed to be subpar and the headphones are huge and do not fold to a compact size like others Sony has released for years. Because they don't fold, the case is also unwieldly. The case is also a dirt magnet. The sound can easily be tailored using the stellar Sony Headphones app and the result sounds like I want it to. But it doesn't seem like an evolution in the WH-1000 train of revisions. Supposedly the XM5 has added more microphones but the extra hardware does not translate to better performance. The voice isolation and sound quality in phone calls is less, but I didn't choose these expensive headphones to make phone calls with. I then purchased the WH-1000MX4 and find that it's a much better headphone, especially in its noise cancellation and compactness. It also uses the Headphones app and I'mm thrilled to move back a version!
