The noise canceling works great, the sounds is fantastic, they are comfortable to wear for hours and the battery life is long. I didn't own a pair of xm4 so I don't have a comparison but these are well worth the money thus far.

First, the noise canceling is unreal. The moment I put them on, the world fades out. Background chatter, engines, and everyday noise just disappear, making them perfect for studying, travel, or winding down after a long day. Sony clearly refined their already top-tier ANC even further with this model. The sound quality is where these really shine. The audio is clean, balanced, and immersive. Bass is deep but controlled, mids are rich, and vocals sound incredibly natural. Whether I’m listening to music, watching videos, or taking calls, everything feels crisp and intentional. The adaptive sound features are smart and genuinely useful, adjusting seamlessly to my environment. Comfort is another huge win. They’re lightweight, the ear cups are soft, and I can wear them for hours without any pressure or fatigue. The Smoky Pink color is subtle, classy, and unique. It stands out without being flashy and feels very premium. Battery life has been excellent. I rarely worry about charging, and the fast-charge feature is a lifesaver when I’m on the go. HANDS DOWN BEST HEADPHONE FOR IT'S PRICE

Excellent transparency, the best call quality, arguably the best ANC, great connectivity, and super comfortable. It's sound quality is a bit subjective as straight out of the box I felt it sounded good but not great. A little bass heavy and bloated but it also has one of the best app EQ's which makes it sound fantastic once you find your favorite settings and really brings it up to par with other wireless headphones that are twice the price. In fact if I had to find one flaw it would be the short charge cable (a 6" cable is a joke) but that's the only thing I can think of. I absolutely love the XM5 and it is DEFINITELY worth it's price tag.

Excellent sounding noise cancellation heaphones

I bought these headphones after watching numerous reviews from YouTube. To me, they sound great out of the box but if you download the app, you can customize the sound to how you like. I'm sure there will be other reviews with how these noise cancel on a technical level but for me, my lawn company comes around at least twice a week with their loud leaf blowers, weed whackers, lawn mowers and such. With these on, I hear very minimal of that noise. They are comfortable for long periods of use (over 2 hours for me) and they aren't too heavy on the head. There's several convenience features like holding your hand over the right ear to soften the sound so you can hear other people or you can just start talking and it will do the same and stop your music (although these are neat features I think most people might find it rude if you talk to them without taking off your headphones). All in all I am very happy with the money spent on these.

Did notice some improvement with Noise cancellation and transparency mode. Note you can’t fold the 5s but for me was no biggie because they feel a lot more sturdy than the previous generation

They were my daily driver headphones for over 2 years. When they finally died on me, I decided to try the Apple AirPods Max. Wow what a mistake that was. They were bulky, heavy, and did not sound nearly as good as I would have hoped for their cost. I returned the AirPods for these Sonys, which were on sale for about half the price of the AirPods. These sound SO MUCH more premium and are infinitely more comfortable. I wish these would fold up a little smaller, but I have no real complaints about them. I love that I can use these as Bluetooth or with an INCLUDED aux cable.

The noise canceling is my favorite part. It’s very light weight which I love makes it very comfortable to wear. 100% recommend you get these they are amazing. Battery life is still good 3 years later.

Very good, very expensive wireless headphones

(Not AS convenient as other headphones; if you use the LDAC codec you can't use multipoint connections.) They sound just a bit cleaner than the XM4 but lose some of the bass punch. I prefer my Shure Aonic 50s for listening to music, but these are still great. The carrying case is also notably bulkier than the XM4s, as these don't fold in on themselves. They look fairly cool, and are pretty comfortable for hours on end, but - especially since it has touch controls - the black finish collects fingerprint oil very fast (seems the silver has a different texture/feel and doesn't have that problem). Fast charging, good battery life, decently low latency despite not being Apt-X-LL. They do actually perform great as headphones for phone calls, vastly better than others I've tried. No one has yet said anything negative about the call quality. The carrying case is bulkier than the XM4.

Impressive noise canceling, great sound

Since I have several Apple products, I was initially considering the AirPods Max, but it didn’t justify the price difference with these Sony headphones. I can’t compare both since there was no AirPods Max on display at the Best Buy store. Noise canceling is top notch on these Sony XM5 headphones, just used it on a 16-hr flight and I could barely hear any aircraft noise while watching For All Mankind episodes on my iPhone. Bass are good but not too much, dialogues are clear. Battery is very good, after watching 4 episodes and listening music for couple hours, I still had around 80% battery left. I also used the headphones for work with Teams on a Windows laptop. Easily paired with the laptop, and can be switched between laptop and iPhone without any problem. I have also been told my voice is very clear when I talk on Teams meeting.

These stay on nicely and don't feel like they will damage my glasses. sound quality - is excellent. I've got a music service that these headphones can take advantage of for better sound. battery life - haven't really tested this. Although they have lasted all day while I travel. style - i like the simplistic design on the headphones and the color does stand out a bit, but i don't want to forget it anywhere so I need it to be different. wireless - Bluetooth is really good on these cans. I love being able to walk around the house and not worry about dropouts.

The WH-1000XM5 have quite the exceptional sound quality. It’s as if I’m in the very room whatever I’m listening to is recorded. It has an easy set up and the look and feel of the headphones are top notch. They are comfortable and fit snuggly in your ears. The application it comes with helps you set up the headphones to you deep off and unique needs. Battery life is outstanding , I use it most of the day and only need to charge it once or twice a week.
