Great Headphones! Worth it?

I had been wanting a pair of overhead headphones that would cover my ears (to not disturb piercings). Really love the battery life on them plus they charge super quickly. Would recommend, I've never really tried noice canceling headphones before so I'm not sure if they are a "good deal" but I love my pair.

I have sensory issues, enough that when my XM3's broke I needed to buy new ones the next day. Pros: It is great noise canceling. Both top and bottom frequencies at the extreme end are slightly better canceling than the Bose QuietComfort, which is exactly what I am looking for. However, the Bose was better at noise canceling all other frequencies. Cons: The build quality absolutely sucks. They are $30 build quality with a $400 price tag. It feels cheap, looks slightly better, and the foam is so bad. When I bend over (to pick up a ball and play fetch with the dog) some sensor wigs out and the sound changes and the noise cancelling is affected. I am absolutely getting more sound passthrough than previous iterations, and their build quality was better. The case is massive, and insane that someone thought that's how I want to travel. It's the size of my grandmother's purse. I'm not an audiophile, I just am sensitive to extreme frequencies. But the sound is good... but not at this price point! For $400 I should be able to hear God answer my prayers, instead I'm hearing just good tunes? It sounds like a $60 pair of headphones. Again, the Bose QuietComfort were superior. They had better sound, the soundstage felt larger, and the sounds were absolute finesse. And did I mention they were $100 cheaper? In sum: If you do not desperately need the edge of human hearing to be silenced then you SHOULD NOT buy these. $400 is a bonkers price for something that feels like tomorrow's noise canceling put into yesteryear's design choices. Ridiculous.

The materials are sturdy, but comfortable and light on the head, the sound quality is stellar and the noise cancelling works phenomenally! My colleagues can hear me loud and clear, unlike with othet wireless headphones that i've had. The only setback is that I am unable to mute/unmute from the headset and would have to be done directly on the app. And when doing recording for meetings, it will pick all ambient noises and they are extra loud.

My one complaint is that the charger is too short. Skimping out on length!?! Haha, not a big deal. Also, incredibly light! Placed my headphones in my case before work, and after work, I lifted up my case and thought my headphones weren’t in there. Turns out they were.

These headphones are excellent - the buttonless control took a bit to get used to, but once I did, it was very smooth to control everything with just a touch. Battery life is also very good! Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a few noise canceling in-ear headphones before (QC20, Airpod Pro, Momentum TW2, ) and have been disappointed with the amount of noise canceling they offer. I picked the Sony X5 over the Airpod Max and Bose 700, sound unheard, so I can't say how those compare. The sound is fine -- obviously better than any earbud I've tried (Aonic 4), but about the level of on over-the-ear set like the ATH-M50, a solid performer. The question was whether I could get that level of audio quality without hearing a nearby leaf blower, or industrial fan, or someone drumming upstairs, or even just music playing at moderate volume in the same room. The answer is no. I'd say the attenuation is like a good pair of earplugs, which is better than nothing but you're not going to enjoy audiophile quality with noise in the vicinity. Also, the noise canceling is automatic-only, meaning that even with the app you can't max the canceling; the headphones decide what level of noise canceling you need, which is a really, really bad design decision. I hope a firmware release changes this.

The one I bought has now lost the ability to adjust the size smoothly and also the pads are so soft that overtime they provide minimum cushion for your ears. Sound quality is great but I would buy m4 model if I were to do it again

Yes to noise cancellation, no to disconnection

If I cough, it disconnects, if I turn my head, it disconnects, even when I’m sitting still doing absolutely nothing, it finds a way to disconnect. I don’t know if I got a defective device since the reviews for this product is amazing, so I have no clue. It is somewhat disappointing. The app is up to date, and this was a gift back in March, so even if I wanted to return it and get a new pair, it probably wouldn’t work. I have AirPods but those always fall out, and when working out, I wanted something noise canceling that will stay in place. Well I got that, but I have to deal with disconnections all the time.

Please make sure to wear the headset properly. In order to prevent the headset from reacting incorrectly, stop music playback, making and receiving calls, and other operations cannot be performed when the headset is removed, even if you tap the touch sensor control panel. Also, if you put on the headset without adjusting the slider, the headset may not be positioned properly on your head, resulting the wearing detection function to not work properly and cause music playback to stop automatically or activate the automatic power off function (the battery saving function) to automatically turn off the headset. By using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, you can change the settings of the wearing detection automatic music playback pause and resume function and the wearing detection automatic power off function (the battery saving function).
