They have exccelent noise cancelling and great connectivity. The music and shows I listen to are always really clear. Battery life is also excellent. *** However, the band can get pretty uncomfortable after using for a couple hours, and I don’t love that they can’t fold.

Plenty of intuitive features. The permissions required in the app seem kind of invasive though, and the app is really pushy about you accepting them. I just close the app and restart. Not really an issue if you don't plan on using the app or its features. I get by fine without them for my purposes. One example is that the headphones and app will curate a list of "your top hits" if you allow it access to everything you listen to. That's a huge privacy concern to me. So, if you're also wary of these types of things, just be aware that the app probably won't be much use for you aside from changing sound settings.

A great set of cans!

Mainly to drown out the sounds of my home and people cutting grass and such while working. These are a great set of cans, as they should be for their price. They aren’t as nicely built as the Bose, but they are fairly light with no fatigue. While I like larger ear cups, they can be a bit distracting at times as I have a small head. The sound quality sounds a bit flat, but if you play with the EQ in the app, they come to life. I still think the x4 earbuds are tremendously better in SQ, but these fit a diff role and seem to be better for calls to me atleast. The battery life is TREMENDOUS to say the least!

They are lightweight and don’t apply too much pressure. I wear them 9 hours a day for work usually on meetings or listening to streaming audio. I do not wear them out to use with my phone. Phone calls with them are perfect. The charge lasts about two days with my usage. If it helps, I also wear external hearing aids, and these headphones fully cover my ears and the aids. No complaints.

Great upgrade

On/off detection is my favorite feature upgrade going from the 3s to the 5s, definitely saves on battery life for my forgetful self. They are also much lighter and more comfortable when wearing for long periods. I gave them a nice 12 hour trial run right after getting them and was plesently surprised how little ear fatigue I had. After wearing the xm3s that long I'd start twitching above the ear, nothing like that with the 5s. They're really good at switching between devices. I switch between my phone (android), iPad, and laptop (windows) quite a bit and haven't had to manually toggle the connection at all so far. I wish it was a little more visually clear which side is left vs right. They are labeled, but it's kinda hard to see in low light and I can never remember which side the power button goes on and always seem to miss it when I'm feeling for it to put them on.

The bass is deep and amazing but not artificial or overpowering. I never had any previous sony headphones so i cannot compare it with the xm4 or xm3. The best part i like is that they are so light. Some people with bad reviews have mentioned bad sound quality. In my opinion, either they got a bad unit or they have an issue with their bluetooth connection which is degrading the sound quality. I would highly recommend these headphones.

But when I listened to them, they felt artificially boosted and somewhat tinny sounding. This is where the Sony's shined and ultimately won me over. The sound is natural, even, clean and crisp. And if you're looking for a little extra, the iOS Headphones Connect app works brilliantly for fine-tuning the sound. I listened to these headphones for 2 weeks and hardly used 40% of battery. They're lightweight, great to talk on the phone with and a joy to use. You won't regret this!

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve enjoyed multiple earlier versions of Sony’s XM series noise-canceling headphones (XM2, XM3, XM4). What originally drew me to them was the excellent noise-canceling performance, especially considering the price point compared to Bose’s airplane-focused models at the time, which were significantly more expensive. Comfort was another big plus. The headband felt good, and I’ve never liked in-ear solutions. The XM5 series is largely the same experience overall. One of my earlier concerns was headband strength, which I believe has been addressed in newer versions. My main issue now is that, in certain situations, speech clarity seems to suffer. I sometimes feel the older models handled voices better. That said, it’s possible my current unit is slightly defective and may need an RMA. Overall, these headsets are excellent when it comes to noise canceling, period. If you can find the XM4 or XM5 at a discount, you won’t be disappointed. Just make sure to register them for the warranty and keep the firmware up to date. One piece of advice: fully charge the headphones before use, and if you’re doing a firmware update, be prepared and patient.

Solid all around the board

Previously I was using the Bose QC 35s and like these a bit better. Noise canceling is top notch, music is bassy where it needs to be and treble comes through when it does. Battery life is solid. I use mine all day for meetings and listening to spotify and I charge it once every other day or so. Out of the Bose QC line up and the Apple Airpod Pro Maxes this is my favorite, though all three are solid.

Several reasons why I like them: 1) Fantastic sound 2) Great NC 3) Comfortable 4) Long battery 5) Easy to use app with EQ features 5) Responsive and intuitive hand gestures on the right side 6) Cool features like stopping music when you speak 7) Nice quality case (albeit a bulky one) 8) Great microphone Things that could improve: 1) Can’t connect to Apple multi headphone feature, hopefully they get Apple to include them in the future 2) More compatible 360 audio; their spatial audio is limited to certain apps 3) Bulky case 4) I sometimes have issues with Windows, specifically with Teams
