Messing around with the EQ and other features on the Headphones Sony app truly makes the product unique such as placing your palm on the right outer headphone surface to activate the 6 mics around the headphones to activate the attention mode to hear your surroundings or the fact that there arent any buttons for replaying the previous song or going to the next or even volume up and down...its all on that same touch sensitive outer surface of the headphone and it amazes me how well it works. Theres even the feature that pauses the music automatically when you start speaking (can be toggles on/off in settings). Not to mention the battery, it charges for like 10 minutes to get about 3 hours of play time.

I use it with my laptop for office work and connecting the blue tooth every time i put my headphone done, it takes me a while to connect it again. Apart from that, it is a good product.

Regarding that Bluetooth delay, we definitely want to make your workday smoother! A great way to fix this is by using the "Multi-point Connection" feature in the Sony | Headphones Connect app. This allows your headphones to stay paired to both your phone and your laptop at the same time, so you won't have to manually reconnect every time you put them back on.
Also, checking that your Windows "Swift Pair" setting is toggled On can make that initial handshake almost instant!

If you are considering them for workouts, they did not work well for me. Due to the soft fit, they tend to slip off constantly during gym training. However, it is hard to call this a downside, as these headphones are not positioned as workout or gym headphones. Overall, I am very satisfied with them.

Noise canceling is outstanding. I didn't care for the app and couldn't find a equalizer setting that really made me happy, but that's a minor nitpick. The head band and ear cups are comfortable; however, moving around and laying on the couch while listening, these wouldn't stay in place on my head. Surely that won't be an issue for everyone.

Owned for 8 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.*ANC is great *situational ANC/pass through feature is nice to have *sound quality is pretty good even after playing with the EQ but not totally immersive *build quality is great - though I am pretty careful about the headband, it doesn't inspire rugged confidence. soft goods feel soft and compliant *excellent battery life and battery charge rate *being able to connect to my phone and PC and having it seamlessly transition based on use case is amazing *had an issue with the XM5 randomly turning off, used it for about 400 hours total - spoke to Sony CS 3 times over 4 months and they only suggested factory resets if I hadn't already updated my firmware. On the third time they decided to do a warranty replacement on my XM5 - it took 2+ weeks total for a replacement because they sent me the wrong color on the first replacement.

The new, streamlined XM5 design was developed to achieve a sleeker look and enhance the overall noise cancellation performance by maximizing the space for internal components, like the new processor and microphones. While they no longer fold inward, they still collapse flat into a thin carrying case, which was redesigned to be more durable and feature a magnetic flap for accessories.

Only problem for me is that it does not clamp hard enough especially when laying down. Sometimes the earcup will tilt and ruin the seal for the anc. Other than that, great sound, super light, good battery. Used on a plane and was really nice on it. Worth the price? Debatable.

I fell in love with my apple airpods for their noise cancelling, especially when flying, they were a lifesaver but on long flights they would run out of battery. After a little research I settled on these and am very happy. Excellent sound which is rich and detailed in subtle ways, too many headphones try to overcome poor sound quality with excessive bass. Good battery life and superior noise cancelling, I have not tried the mic feature yet.
